Is that a shortened Aug, they are carrying?
Yes it is, in addition to the shortened barrel the foregrip is permanently locked in the down position(for obvious reasons :D ).

Designation in Aussi service as the F-88C.
The foregrip is not permanetly locked either.
I remember when it first started to be issued to 3RAR Recon Platoon a few years ago..... the biggest gripe being that the bayonet cannot be fitted...yet it was still ordered to be carried on webbing.... even if you were already carrying your own knife.

Hi!!
I`ve got a few questions....
1) What are the labels on the Augies, that are carried by the men wearing blue T-shirts?
2) Is that true, that NZAF has no fighter/attack planes, but only cargo and patrol ones?

i would sugest its the name/no of the AUGS owner.
Yep the RNZAF has no fighter/attack aircraft its govt couldn't afford to replace them as well as everything else in the defence budget that needed replacing.
Hence the LAV25's etc. The have got 2 second hand 757's recentley that look very smart

have the RNZAF decided on an Iorquois replacement yet? I know its in the defence white paper are they waiting to see what the Aussies do or are they going to buy independently.
Front runner is probably the Blackhawk
BTW what model Lav25's did they get are they 4's i know the Irish army has taken delivery of 4's. what is the brekdown is it all LAV25's or are there coyotes an bisons in the buy as well?

The NZLAV is the New Zealand version of the Canadian LAVIII. It is replacing the NZ Army's M113 armoured personnel carrier (APC) and the Scorpion armoured vehicle.
The new Boeing 757-200.

UH-1H Iroquois Replacement
It is anticipated that an initial approach to industry will be made in the second half of 2003. To find the right helicopter for new zealand they haven't said what helicopter they are interested in.
