the war pig born during the preparation for the invasion of iraq is either a 2.5 or 5 ton truck, with the cab cut down to lower the profile..usually mounted with a m240 MG in front and a MK19 AGL in the back but in the course of the war some war pigs had added firepower as seen in the pics...thrown in are modified racks for tires, fuel, ammo, water and food. Finally added are all the antennas for the various radios and satcoms and if needed throw in a camouflage net...thus a war pig is born. It is used primarily as a mobile defensible command vehicle that can resupply and direct SF teams running around in their desert humvees. Hope this answers your questions about the "war pig".

Thanks 24mech for the intell
Everytime when I see fuel canisters (??) tied to the outside of "soft" vehicles I wonder wether they would explode if hit by enemy gunfire.
How dangerous is it really? Is it like in the movies where one sinlge hit sends the whole car to hell in a burning ring of fire?

Yep just like the movies.......Well no actually. The vehicle runs on diesel. They might have a small honda generator or fuel for the Polaris ATVs though. That would be a nice fire.

The British SF used these trucks along with desert bikes and land rovers in teams to hunt for the scuds during Gulf War I.
They are called 'Mother' Trucks

AV-2055 SATCOM antenna. ANd the other is a X-Wing SATCOM Antenna. The X-wing "allows" for satcom without pointing. The 2055 is the standard SATCOM antenna for a manpack radio like the PSC-5 or 117F. In use it has been found that the 2055 can do the same thing if the channel on the bird is a good one.

It does 30-512 Mhz AM/FM. In fact ANY radio that does FM in the SATCOM range will work as long as you can do a seperate TX/RX freq. The 148 can be used even though it only puts out 5 watts.
