View Full Version : Mistaarvim strike terrorists in Jenin
Four terrorists killed in Jenin
By MARGOT DUDKEVITCH
Undercover Border Police units operating in south Jenin to arrest wanted Palestinian fugitives killed four Palestinian gunmen on Sunday, security officials said.
The Israeli force, disguised as Arabs, spotted the suspects driving in a car and pursued them. Some of the suspects opened fire at their pursuers and a gun battle ensued, in which the four Palestinians were shot and killed.
All four were senior members of Islamic Jihad and the Fatah Al Aksa Martyrs' Brigades and were the intended targets of the ongoing operation in the West Bank city.
The two Fatah Al Aksa Martyrs' Brigades fatalities were identified as Amin Abu Kamel and Mohammed Masarka. Masarka's home was demolished Sunday morning. He was involved in planning two suicide bomb attacks which were thwarted.
The other Palestinians killed were Fahdi Adjbarriah and Mohammed Salah, both from Islamic Jihad.
In their car troops found two M-16 rifles a Kalachnikov assault rifle, three ammunition clips and binoculars.
The army has been operating against the terrorist infrastructure in Jenin for the past ten days.

The term "Mistaarvim" was used to describe Jews who lived in Arab countries and adopted Arab culture or assimilated into Arab society (Aravim=Arabs in Hebrew).
Today it's used to describe undercover units that are operating in Arab surroundings, like the unit that carried out the operation that is mentioned above.
Good Job Tsahal :)
i have a question : mistaaravim = Sayeret Duvdevan ???

Disguising as woman is a long time used tactic in the Israeli SF for two main reasons: the first one is that due to the woman's very low status in the Arab society, a woman can move around freely without getting any undesired attention or harassment, especially if she is wearing a traditional Arab married woman religious clothing. Secondly, the long vales, which are an integral part of the traditional Arab woman clothing, allow the carrying of concealed weapons underneath them.
In this photo two members of Sayeret Duvdevan seen disguised as a Palestinian couple (woman on the left, man on the right), during a meeting with the former Prime Minister Shimhon Peres. Note that more Sayeret Duvdevan undercover plain cloth operators can be seen sitting and standing in the left side of the photo.

Well yeah, definitively looks more like a execution than a "gunfight". And itīs not like
the Israelis doesnīt find and execute Palestinian militants on a daily basis anyway.

Oh , dude , common . :)
How much time you seen how person looks after a firefight ? none ?
And no, Israelies don't execute regular militants , only high ranks with helicopter . The last one to did this was Sayeret Rimon , and they were beaten very badly by public opinion and dismantled .

Damn Javehn.
You have become soft, remember back in the days when you threatened to kill people
who wrote stuff like I did. About the "looks executed" I was thinking about that they seem
to have been shot pretty high up in their bodies, and look at the car. So I guess they were
sitting in the car when being killed.
But itīs not like Iīm mourning these guys or anything. Too bad for them they died :)

So the fact that they sat in the car when they got killed tells you that they got executed? :|
If you look at the seats you won't see any clear blood stains so we can't be sure that all of them were hit in the car...

Arab can be pronounce A'Ra'Vi עֲרָבִי or Ar'vi עַרְבִי
depending on the situation in the sentence.
Therefore, it can be pronounced as Mis'Ta'arvim מִסְתָעַרְבִים or Mis'Ta'a'ra'Vim מִסְתָעַרָבִים. But the word itself is not an acual dictionary word yet, so no exact pronounciation or punctuation exists.

Yeah, I know how it's spelled. So everyone pronounces in whatever fashion they want? I always thought it's mistaarvim (as in also "chargers") until I saw isayeret's site (which calls it mistaaravim).
But the word itself is not an acual dictionary word yet, so no exact pronounciation or punctuation exists.
Actually the word appears in the Even Shoshan Hebrew dictionary...
