If its from afghanistan, its probably the Jordanian forces that they sent there. they used american BDU's and have m16's. The head-dress is also a giveaway. The Jordanian spec-forces, have to be Bedoin Tribesman. And i believe that is the head dress that bedoins wear.

I believe some SAS wear that rag on their heads too. Maybe they are trying to blend in with the local population. Yes, there are black people in British armed forces

I'm thinking it might just be something from a film/documentary about one SAS story or another, in which case it wouldn't really matter where it's from. and that guy is definately not black, just look at his hands.

I'd say that pic is for some botched documentary or someone else coz that isn't SAS. I remember one of on Bravo Two Zero the SAS were wearing US 3 colour desert BDU.
1. It's 1991, 3 colour desert didn't exist yet
2. SAS don't wear 3 colour desert

The 3 color desert pattern BDUs did exist in 1991. They were just not issued to troops. I guess it was in the experimental stage. But, some Force Recon Marines did wear the 3 color pattern BDU into Iraq, but no photos exist of it :(

One heroic al-Qa段da darted from trench to trench as the SAS advanced, firing his rocketpropelled grenades at the British attackers. He was better at ducking shots than firing them.

I don't like the description of the Al Qa'ida fighter as heroic as there is nothing heroic about terrorism.

The guy in the picture isn't black, lol. But yes, there are black SAS members. There are black U.S. Special Forces guys, Rangers, and Delta too, just as there are plenty of Asian, European, Hispanic, or Middle-Eastern guys in Special Operations.

Evan is right. I saw a similar picture with the same pattern. They were the new Jordanian Gor-text BDUs. I believe the article also mentioned that they were made somewhere in Israel (ill try to find the article again.).

So how were they meant to describe. If it is as the Sun says it was and this guy basically held of the attacking troopers for 45 odd minutes then surely that was quite a feat, no matter who he was. So should they have described the bloke as a yellow-bellied cowardly, sadistic asshole for the part he played in the fight? His actions were heroic, just as in any war you get hero's on both sides, is this any different.

Ok then...
"As the heroic and brave british boys fought for freedom, one dastardly towelheaded falafel chomper foolishly ran across the field, obviously attempting to sacrifice himself for allah. The pathetic charge was soon stopped by the hand of God, carried out by the SAS."

The guy wearing the BDUs and the kaffyeh is carrying an M16 w/an m203 grenade launcher attached.http://www.isayeret.com/weapons/assault/car15/m203-alone.jpg

http://www.scottsdalegunclub.com/Firearms/ColtM16.html
The above website says that the A2 model was the first to use the Colt-designed launcher, but it could be attached to all M16/CAR15 models.

Particularly useful for negotiating heavy traffic.
