We Must Have Patience
...Barbra Streisand
Posted on November 8, 2004

In response to the results of the Presidential election last week, I would like to share with you a quote from Thomas Jefferson. Although written in 1798, I feel his words speak perfectly to the strong sentiments of frustration and disappointment 48% of the country feel.

"A little patience, and we shall see the reign of witches pass over, their spells dissolve, and the people, recovering their true sight, restore their government to its true principles. It is true that in the meantime we are suffering deeply in spirit, and incurring the horrors of a war and long oppressions of enormous public debt......If the game runs sometimes against us at home we must have patience till luck turns, and then we shall have an opportunity of winning back the principles we have lost, for this is a game where principles are at stake."

IS THIS THE MAN YOU THINK WILL KEEP YOU SAFE?...

1. BUSH IGNORED THE ADVICE OF THE CLINTON ADMINISTRATION REGARDING THE URGENT THREAT OF AL QAEDA.

2. BUSH IGNORED THE HART-RUDMAN COMMISSION TERRORISM REPORT, WHICH OUTLINED A RANGE OF U.S. SECURITY REQUIREMENTS AND STRATEGIC OBJECTIVES.

3. BUSH FAILED TO GET OVER 100,000 HOURS OF VALUABLE TERRORISM-RELATED TAPINGS TRANSLATED BY LINGUISTS AT THE F.B.I, A FULL 3 YEARS AFTER 9/11. IN FACT, JOHN ASHCROFT REFUSED TO ENDORSE FBI REQUESTS FOR $58 MILLION FOR NEW COUNTERTERRORISM FIELD AGENTS, TRANSLATORS AND INTELLIGENCE ANALYSTS.

4. BUSH HELD NO FACE TO FACE MEETINGS WITH HIS TERRORISM CHIEF RICHARD CLARK AND NEITHER DID **** CHENEY WHO WAS HEAD OF THE TERRORISM TASK FORCE.

5. BUSH CONTINUED HIS VACATION ON THE DAY HE RECEIVED A BRIEFING ABOUT THE IMPENDING ATTACK ON AMERICA.

6. KNOWING ABOUT THE IMPENDING HIJACKINGS, BUSH DID NOTHING TO BEEF UP AIRLINE SECURITY.

7. BUSH'S ATTORNEY GENERAL, JOHN ASHCROFT, TOLD THE ACTING DIRECTOR OF THE F.B.I. TO NOT TELL HIM ANYTHING MORE ABOUT TERRORISM.

8. BUSH WAS INACTIVE AND INDECISIVE FOR A FULL 7 MINUTES THE MORNING OF 9/11 WHEN INFORMED OF THE ATTACK ON THE WORLD TRADE CENTER. IF BUSH HAD ACTED QUICKLY AND INTELLIGENTLY, PERHAPS HE COULD HAVE GIVEN AN ORDER TO SHOOT DOWN THE PLANE HEADED TOWARD THE PENTAGON AND SAVED THE LIVES OF THOSE WHO WERE KILLED.

9. BUSH INVADED IRAQ WITH THE RATIONALE OF IMAGINARY WEAPONS OF MASS DESTRUCTION AND IGNORED THE REAL THREAT IN AFGHANNISTAN. NOW WE HAVE A TERRORIST BREEDING GROUND IN THE MIDDLE EAST AND OSAMA BIN LADEN AND ABU MUSSAB AL-ZARQAWI, A RADICAL ISLAMIC TERRORIST, RUNNING FREE.

10. BUSH IGNORED THE ADVICE OF THE GENERALS IN THE MILITARY WHO PROVED TO BE RIGHT.

11. BUSH OPPOSED THE CREATION OF A DEPARTMENT OF HOMELAND SECURITY.

12. BUSH OPPOSED THE CREATION OF THE 9/11 COMMISSION.

13. MORE THAN 3 YEARS LATER, OUR BORDERS, PORTS, AND NUCLEAR POWER PLANTS ARE STILL NOT SECURE.

14. BUSH SUPPRESSED THE RELEASE OF A CIA REPORT THAT LAYS BLAME UPON HIGH-LEVEL PEOPLE IN HIS ADMINISTRATION FOR NOT DOING THEIR JOBS IN A SATISFACTORY MANNER BEFORE 9/11.

15. BUSH FAILED TO SECURE NEARLY 400 TONS OF KNOWN, DEADLY EXPLOSIVES IN IRAQ, AND NOW THEY MAY FALL INTO THE WRONG HANDS TO BE USED TO BLOW UP AIRPLANES, LEVEL BUILDINGS AND DETONATE NUCLEAR WEAPONS.

IF BUSH HAD DONE ANY OF THESE THINGS, WE WOULD BE A SAFER MORE SECURE COUNTRY TODAY AND POSSIBLY COULD HAVE PREVENTED THE TRAGEDY OF 9/11.

IS THIS THE MAN YOU THINK WILL KEEP YOU SAFE?...

She always finds time to blame Republicans......yet never seems to consider ownership of any problems by her buddies like Clinton.

I guess now she's blaming them for their successful Presidential and Congressional campaign victories? How wrong of them to win.

This is the issue I have with many wealthy ardent Democrats.......the arrogance in their belief that the people of the US, were and are somehow "wrong" and too stupid to make their own decisions.

Personally, I think there is nothing scarier than a well intentioned, over-zealous activist who "knows" what's good for ME.

Jefferson was a backed by the Republicans. And he was complaining about New England (the blue states). And Babs left some out;

Seeing, therefore, that an association of men who will not quarrel with one another is a thing which never yet existed, from the greatest confederacy of nations down to a town meeting or a vestry, seeing that we must have somebody to quarrel with, I had rather keep our New England associates for that purpose than to see our bickerings transferred to others. They are circumscribed within such narrow limits, & their population so full, that their numbers will ever be the minority, and they are marked, like the Jews, with such a peculiarity of character as to constitute from that circumstance the natural division of our parties.

And he added at the end

"P. S. It is hardly necessary to caution you to let nothing of mine get before the public. A single sentence, got hold of by the Porcupines, will suffice to abuse & persecute me in their papers for months."
Heh heh...looks like he was right.

Babs you have every right to express yourself and we have every right to criticize your unqualified views (http://utopia-unmasked.us/ronstadt-whoopi.html) and/or boycott things that make you money for being an idiot:

...There are certain elitists in the entertainment industry who seem to believe that their visibility anoints them with some Special Wisdom that goes beyond their life experience, education and/or training. In reality, the ability to sell records or make faces in front of a camera qualifies them for nothing beyond those narrow pursuits. Until and unless they can debate the issues with the likes of William F. Buckley, entertainers should consider confining themselves to their professions.

If not, these para-pundits should stifle their shock when the ‘uneducated masses’ choose to conspicuously reject their ill-advised and ill-informed attempts at political pedagogy.

Damn!! She has the guile to quote Jefferson.

It is amazing how a person like her is so stupid, her complete and absolute ignorance makes such intellectual failures stand out.
She is yet another entertainer who lacks the life experience and knowledge of real world affairs while dwelling in literal ivory towers.
That an entertainer can continue to pass judgment on those of us who must work every day and toil through the struggle of life.
Such ignorance of self means that these persons don't even realize that there careers were created so that we could create a fantasy reality to escape from our own. She is living in the benefits of fantasy and cannot see through her own artificial world to realize that she is completely incorrect.

Why can't the Streisand's and other washed up celebs, ever shut the **** up? Not even Democrats want to hear them whine. I don't care if she's telling me "the sky is blue," she's annoying as ****. Someone needs to tell her, nobody likes her and she isn't helping the Dem's cause, either.

1. BUSH IGNORED THE ADVICE OF THE CLINTON ADMINISTRATION REGARDING THE URGENT THREAT OF AL QAEDA.

Probably.

2. BUSH IGNORED THE HART-RUDMAN COMMISSION TERRORISM REPORT, WHICH OUTLINED A RANGE OF U.S. SECURITY REQUIREMENTS AND STRATEGIC OBJECTIVES.

Correct.

Could be why Ashcroft resigned this term?

4. BUSH HELD NO FACE TO FACE MEETINGS WITH HIS TERRORISM CHIEF RICHARD CLARK AND NEITHER DID **** CHENEY WHO WAS HEAD OF THE TERRORISM TASK FORCE.

Strange, isn't it?

5. BUSH CONTINUED HIS VACATION ON THE DAY HE RECEIVED A BRIEFING ABOUT THE IMPENDING ATTACK ON AMERICA.

Bush has spent more time on vacation than any other president in history. FACT.

6. KNOWING ABOUT THE IMPENDING HIJACKINGS, BUSH DID NOTHING TO BEEF UP AIRLINE SECURITY.

He didn't even notify the airlines.

7. BUSH'S ATTORNEY GENERAL, JOHN ASHCROFT, TOLD THE ACTING DIRECTOR OF THE F.B.I. TO NOT TELL HIM ANYTHING MORE ABOUT TERRORISM.

http://www.umkc.edu/studo/collegedemocrats/Ashcroft's%20brain.gif

I don't really blame him for that. He's not really in charge of making any decisions, why should he run around for no reason, just to put on a show for the cameras?

Not to mention that Al Qaeda enlistment and funding has skyrocketed.

10. BUSH IGNORED THE ADVICE OF THE GENERALS IN THE MILITARY WHO PROVED TO BE RIGHT.

He was following the Stalin Doctrine of WW2.

11. BUSH OPPOSED THE CREATION OF A DEPARTMENT OF HOMELAND SECURITY.

That's the best thing he ever did.

12. BUSH OPPOSED THE CREATION OF THE 9/11 COMMISSION.

Likely to cover up points 1-11.

13. MORE THAN 3 YEARS LATER, OUR BORDERS, PORTS, AND NUCLEAR POWER PLANTS ARE STILL NOT SECURE.

If we closed the borders, how would all the illegal aliens get in to work for GOP-centric corporations who are exploiting them?

14. BUSH SUPPRESSED THE RELEASE OF A CIA REPORT THAT LAYS BLAME UPON HIGH-LEVEL PEOPLE IN HIS ADMINISTRATION FOR NOT DOING THEIR JOBS IN A SATISFACTORY MANNER BEFORE 9/11.

Bush suppressed a great deal of info, this info will likely lead to his impeachment if we could just get at it in time.

15. BUSH FAILED TO SECURE NEARLY 400 TONS OF KNOWN, DEADLY EXPLOSIVES IN IRAQ, AND NOW THEY MAY FALL INTO THE WRONG HANDS TO BE USED TO BLOW UP AIRPLANES, LEVEL BUILDINGS AND DETONATE NUCLEAR WEAPONS.

No, they're being used to kill US troops in Iraq.

Her face is in the news, her words with her name attached are everywhere!!!! She's happy and I guarantee you that's all she's interested in. She's not wanted anymore, she's not famous enough anymore, so she found something to latch onto and ran with it! Fu.k her and the rest of the "i'm suddenly a terroism expert". They ask for more taxes to pay for more CIA; No friggin' way! They'd scream to the heavens! We get attacked because we don't have enough CIA! Out comes the pointing finger! Let me reiterate, fu.k her!!

"Ignored Clinton" - Funny how he never mentioned the big terrorist threat at the time. It wasn't mentioned in the 2000 election - Wouldn't Gore have told everyone about this really bad threat that he and Billy Boy were working sooooo hard to take care of?

Inaction: Actually, the video proves out that it wasn't seven minutes it was 5 minutes. And for God's sake, they were setting up a news conference down the hall so he could speak to the country. What should he have done in the meantime?

Shoot down US airliners? Uh, huh. Sure. What would Babs be saying if the wreckage landed on civilian houses? I'm sure she and others would be screaming to the rooftops about how there was no way to know that the plane was going to crash into the Pentagon.

Nuclear Power Plants: Report after report states that the US nuke plants can withstand a hit by a fullsize jetliner. As for extra security - National Guard units are still on duty at America's Nuclear plants, certains bridges, tunnels and dams. (Operation Noble Eagle 1)

Don't have time for the rest...

Bite me bitch. You said you were going to leave four years ago - begone!

I'd like to add that Richard Clark spent the entire time he was security advisor up until 9/11 screaming about the threat of a 'Cyber Pearl Harbour'. Do a search for him at 'The Register' http://www.theregister.co.uk and you can see what I mean.

Maybe HE should have paid more attention to the warnings provided pre 9/11 on terrorism.

Yes, the Bush administration was ill prepared to prevent the 9/11 tragedy but, is in no way solely to blame.
The real shame here in the executive decision making process is that time was wasted on producing the HART-RUDMAN COMMISSION TERRORISM REPORT on the future of “massive casualty” terrorism when much of that data and the same, nearly word for word synopsis, was available years earlier in several reports presented up the chain of command eventually to the Whitehouse.

I would like to ask the administration why they choose to not act upon these early reports, totally ignore others and waste time and money on HART-RUDMAN which pretty much cut and pasted earlier documents?

It has been said that the Clinton Administration spent an inordinate amount of time fretting and wringing hands over the political ramifications of acting on these early reports fearing the loss of constituents and interests in the coming elections.

Do not misunderstand me; I do not place the blame solely on Clinton’s shoulders either but I do admit to writing this to level the field.
This whole 9/11 tragedy was a CF and OBL with AQ slipped within our decision making process and security to strike a terrible blow to the country.
He and his allies are to blame but, people like Babb’s here should try to either keep there ignorant mouths shut or at least get the facts right and apply constructive criticism rather than spewing BS and making feeble attempts at driving her own little wedge in the country’s psyche because her ego got bruised when her buds lost the election.
