US soldiers in Iraq asked to pray for Bush
They may be the ones facing danger on the battlefield, but US soldiers in Iraq are being asked to pray for President George W Bush.

Thousands of marines have been given a pamphlet called "A Christian's Duty," a mini prayer book which includes a tear-out section to be mailed to the White House pledging the soldier who sends it in has been praying for Bush.

"I have committed to pray for you, your family, your staff and our troops during this time of uncertainty and tumult. May God's peace be your guide," says the pledge, according to a journalist embedded with coalition forces.

The pamphlet, produced by a group called In Touch Ministries, offers a daily prayer to be made for the US president, a born-again Christian who likes to invoke his God in speeches.

Sunday's is "Pray that the President and his advisers will seek God and his wisdom daily and not rely on their own understanding".

Monday's reads "Pray that the President and his advisers will be strong and courageous to do what is right regardless of critics".

This is absolutely f***ing disgusting :(

One should think that one was in North Korea or a similar country, where people are "forced/seduced" to hail their leaders in a religious or quasi religious way.

Uhhrg!!

There is nothing wrong with praying for the well being of your nations leader, just as if you would be for your own family or friends.

This is far from a nation that forces you to hail your leader, and in fact is probably the exact opposite. Its a simple show of support from the religious community and nothing more.

I agree but it should be done on an individual basis, not something coming from the top or various organisations.

I'm not religious in anyway but if I were, I would feel it as an invasion of my "private-religious" space if anyone adviced me on which people to pray for.
The only exception being the unit padre during a sermon who performs a community prayer.

It said to pray FOR President Bush, not to pray TO him. It's completely understandible that they would want the people to pray for our leader, he is the one who makes the major decisions for our country. I myself have prayed that God will guide the president, give him the knowledge, endurance, strength, and perseverance to do what is right for our country and the countries of those that seek our help.

I for one pray for all world leaders, that they make the right decisions as they go so our children dont regret it 20 years from now.

Jesus. Asking to pray for your 'Der Fuhrer' who sends you to Iraq to become a sitting duck to guerillas. Right.

I'd say, it's pushing the limits of Gods powers. :)

Hahahahaha...

"I myself have prayed that God will guide the president, give him the knowledge, endurance, strength, and perseverance to do what is right for our country and the countries of those that seek our help."

And what did god say to you when you asked for this?

He didn't reply?

If anyone else said they talked to "god" they'd get locked up... though "god" seems to be the only one who knows where the WMDs in Iraq are and he hasn't told yet... :P
