Did we sell the MiGs or did Poland pay a symbolic price (1 or sth like that) like it's often done with phased-out equipment?

And yes we payed 1 per 1Mig(...) It was a price for all 23 MiGs ;)

Canibalism was a joke, but I've read in paper or heared in TV that price is 1 per plane not for all, but this was probably BS if you say so. thanks for info.

Cannibalize Polish Fulcrums to overhaul ex-Luftwaffe Fulcrums?
;)
No really, what are the model types and vintages? Fab.ful.de says the US has 16 model C's, out of a fleet of 21 in bad disposition and bought from Moldova....

I forget where in Germany this happened, but anyways. I was watching Discovery Channel (great program) and I saw a training exercise in which is held each year in East Germany. The East German pilots use their Mig 29, and I think the US used F-18s but it could have been the f-16s (can't remember). The German pilots had to perform old Soviet Maneuvers against the Americans. The German pilots getting bored would often spice things up p-) and in mid air change the routine up a bit, and come behind and pick up off the American, the US pilots would get mad cause they would always lose against the East German pilots and their Mig 29s.. :petting: Americans did not like this deviation to the plan and the Germans always got in trouble. With the Migs goen to the Poles I guess that puts an end to the annual exercise, although itd be interesting to see the East Germans in the new Typhoons vs the US and their F 18s.

why it's puts end of excersises? now Poles will be doing "agressor" role in NATO excersises when we upgrade our SU22M4 and MIG29 and new F16C/D come to play it will be very fun:D

Sorry to disappoint you, but there is no such thing as an "East-German"...
Reunification was 13 years ago.

I know that there is no such a thing as East and West Germany. I used to live in Hamburg before comming to Canada. Und diese sommer, ich werde in Kassel Deutsch lernen. Wow that is all wrong, i really need to patch up my German this summer. Next time I'll be careful and make sure I say "Former East German".

That's what we (South Korea) did with UH-1H in the 80s... it wasn't 1 euro.... though..... I believe US$80,000 each. Still bargain...

woot yes!! my German prof would be proud (Damn i was close). What makes the Mig 29 so good? Im sure its not nealry as good as the Typhoon, (but i don't know anything about both planes,)
The German migs are not to be used for parts, but for numbers.
They will help the Poles withdraw their Mig21s and Mig23s which are near their airframe expiry dates.
The German Mig-29s were very basic Mig-29A downgraded export models.
The Germans then derated the engines (to extend lives but increased fuel consumption) and added NATO compatible communications and IFF (identification friend or foe) systems in them... and that is about it.
The talk of upgrades via RSK MIG range from an SMT upgrade down to just NATO compatibility and standardisation among all of the now Polish Mig-29s.

What I don't get why is it only 1 Euro each? What Poland and Germany are great friends now or Germany doesn't need any money? And why not sell it to me, I'd pay up to $10.000. Another interesting thing, several years ago I have read that Donald Trump wanted to purchase 4 Migs but the government wouldn't allow him (so much for the democracy, freedom and blah, blah, blah), so how come it is not okey for a private citizen to buy a fighter jet?

The Germans gave the Poles some Leo's for free, because the don't have much money.

Also Finland and Sveden or Denmark get about 100 leopards for free.
And guess where will we buy tanks in a future?
"The Germans gave the Poles some Leo's for free, because the don't have much money."
Poland has spent a lot of money to change all of its forces to be compatible with NATO now that it is a member. It wasn't the richest country in the region and it would look rather bad if it went bankrupt trying to conform to NATO standards.
Germany doesn't need the Migs anymore so they gave them to Poland for a token amount.
