Sounds of hell

I have heard it was fiction, but really have not done enough internet research to be 100%.

For those of you who know about the story, dont worry about this part.

A geological group who drilled a hole about 14.4 kilometers deep in the crust of the earth are saying that they heard human screams. They were working at some type of Oil Well in Russia.
They lowered a microphone into the hole to listen to the shifting of plates, but instead heard something else and got a recording of it.
