Masked insurgents hold miniature reconnaissance airplane which was shot down in Falluja
Masked insurgents hold a miniature reconnaissance airplane which was shot down in the war-torn Iraqi city of Falluja November 8, 2004. U.S. forces fired at least 20 mortar barrages at rebel targets in Jolan, a district in north west Falluja, witnesses said on Saturday after a relative overnight lull in U.S. attacks on guerrillas.

Wouldnt be the first time, i hear Chechens do that alot. ;)
Snipe drones down that is..
I'm glad when this happens, as those UAV's all have location transmitters on them. :)

I don't think that car will be too hard to find either. I can't imagine too many Iraqis driving around in gold trimmed cars.

I think we should fly like 5,000 of those fokkers over them and let them have a field day shooting them down. That's really brilliant of them though, I bet al Jazera must have put that on there top story at 5.
To me, that thing looks like a toy that a 12 year old would fly in the park.. It's amazing how small the UAVs have gotten.

How was that thing shot down? Those USMC UAV's fly low and quick. Once they gather their information, they crashland. They dont get shot down.

I don't see a bullet hole... probably just crash landed when the Marines were finished with it, or it got out of range of the controller and it crashed, or maybe it ran out of juice and crashed...
I've seen those things fly... they aren't real fast, so if you were real lucky to see it coming you might be able to put enough rounds up that you could tag it, but it would just be a lot of luck.

Where did you hear that they have locating transmitters?
They have onboard GPS which the operator can read.. that's the whole point of it, to send back video and location data.

Look at the guy holding it...while he's wearing a mask, he seems to not even care. Oooooh look at us, at the cost of probably hundreds of rounds of ammo, as well as giving our position away, we shot down an enemy camera!

How come they don't strap the thing down with explosives?
Not alot, just enough to piss the insurgent off. Or dip the whole thing in pig's blood. Or spraypaint a naked woman on it*
The possibilities are endless.
*muslim men aren't allowed to look at naked women (aside from their wife), although I suspect the unsurgents don't really care about Islam law.

That would be a war crime. The poor bloke would get the UAV stuck on his pecker and would need triage.
I'm glad when this happens, as those UAV's all have location transmitters on them. :)
Should also have a "self-destruct when in wrong hands" kinda function

For 12 000 USD I personally get an MB 124 5.0 L, also one Beretta 92 stainless, One Hk Mk-23, one CZ-97 and one Glock 30. Nice calculation. :)

Government operates usine far different calculus.
BUT, these people are more than likely dead now. The photo is date 11/8. The poor UAV has been avenged, even if by its killers crapping themselves and running away.

You are giving them too much credit. I do not see any bullet holes. The UAV probably flew out of radio range or behind a mosque and crash landed!

Dunno what's the big deal with the shot down UAV.
I bet the information gathered by it far outweights the loss of a RC plane on steroids ;)
