A lot stories about any vehicle from this list but it takes a lot of time to post them here. You can explore for yourself at legion.wplus.net (find link to automatically translated version)

I saw a programme about the Caspian Sea Monster...I'll try to find a pic.
It was a sort of plane that flew in ground effect only.
"For example the 540 ton, 500 kph, 10 jet engined "Caspian Sea Monster" or 'KM'"

Nice video of it:

The top 4 pics are of things that didn't make it to service... the fourth from the top was a prototype competing with the BMP-1 with a comination of wheels and tracks... the all track version obviously won that one.
The fifth pic down is a 130mm coastal gun part of a system that is based on trucks and is highly mobile... called Bereg.
The next down is a supersonic bomber made by Sukhoi called the T-4 I think. All Titanium. In the west it was believed it failed because it was too expensive. In the communist system of course it costs nothing... at the time they were building 5,000 ton submarines out of Titanium.
Never entered service.
The next plane down was a proposed carrier based fighter bomber with one engine from a bear bomber (ie that propeller is driven by a 15,000 hp turboprop engine).
Apparantly according to rumour someone said it had the firepower of a battleship to Kruschev, who replied "no one makes Battleships any more" and cancelled it.
The next pic down (the large plane with the big white tank on its back) is a variant of the Myasishchev bomber and is designed obviously for carrying loads on its back inside this white faired container. It carries wings or other parts inside.
Next is a Yak fighter.
Then an Il-40 Brawny... the jet equivelent of the Il-2... a ground attack aircraft. It was built long before the A-10.
The bottom aircraft is the Il-102 and was the competition for the Su-25, which the Su-25 obviously won.
