Yo,
I found some great pics of the FN F2000 which will most likely be replacing the FNC in the near future! I also spoke to a soldier during a visit to a Belgian base who said that they will be getting the new 5-7 pistol as soon NATO permitted the caliber for regular troops.
I also found some information of the Belgian BEST program (thx to Henk ;))
Country: Belgium
Program name: BEST (Belgium Soldier Technology)
Projects in the field of protection: improved protection against climate, improved protection agains bullets, shocks and shrapnel.
Projects in the field of leadership: digital compass, SDA (soldier digital assistent)
Projects in the field of Lethaliteit: new aiming devices (day, night, thermical) for weapons, the F2000
Projects in the field of continuation capacity: general improvement of equipment
Projects in the field of mobility: New webbing and rucksack systems
Planning of the programme: BEST will launch in 2003. The plan to work closely together with the Dutch SMP. BEST has a need of approximately 4,500 soldier systems with a priority on protection and leadership improvements.
