These are all the Italian Items I own that were used in the Peacekeeping mission in Somalia. Any info or pictures of this event would be appreciated. This Kevlar Helmet has the standard issue Desert cover that was issued in Somalia

While this shirt is brand new and used for Afghanistan it is the same as the one used in Somalia. The patches show that it is a 9th Paratrooper issued shirt.

This is the Italian desert camo boonie issued to all Italian units in Somalia as well as Iraq and Afghanistan.

This is a Flak vest that was issued solely for 9th Para units serving in Somalia. There is another similar model with shoulder pads which i am currently searching for.

This is a flak vest issued specifically to Comsubin units in Somalia.

This is also another piece of equipment issued specifically for 9th Para Units serving in Somalia. It is an ammo vest manufactured by the Italian Body armor company Cassoni.

This is a back picture of the 9th para ammo vest. It was kept by some troops and used in the Balkans as well. It is no longer issued.

This is Italian webbing issued to all members of Italian ground units. At a first glance it looks similar to the US rig but if analyzed closely it is quite different.

This is the camo issued to Italian Marines in Somalia also known as the "Regimento San Marco". It is different from the current issue san marco camo in that it is more faded because it was made for the arid environment of Somalia. Note the lion on the breast pocket.

This is an Italian M33 steel helmet. It is the same model as the one that served in WWII. The Italians did not start issuing the Kevlars until Somalia so this was obviously issued to a unit in the rear. Before there were enough kevlars. I'm not sure whether the cover on this is intended for a kevlar or for the M33. If anyone knows please let me know.

This is the finished product of an Italian 9th Paratrooper in Somalia. The helmet is without a cover because most 9th para units did not have them. The vest is worn over the flak vest.

I can say you that right now italian 9th paratrooper, well known as "9° Reggimento d'Assalto Col Moschin" has Meindl Taiga boots.
At Somalia time it was "9° Battaglione" (and not regiment) and i don't know exactly what boots they were using.

Yeah I sorta collect some stuff. Knives and crap mostly. I always keep reminding myself that I can only wear one set of gear at a time, and act accordingly.
