1) How do you tie a Shemagh like this?
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v11/wormie/f8gh68.jpg

2) How do you carry your Flexi-Cuffs? I tried putting them down under the straps going vertically but I've got a fear they're going to slip out. I've got a D-Ring with them looped now on the front of the vest, but I feel like they might get snagged. Any suggestions?

Wrap one end of the cloth around your head like you were trying to tie a bandana on your head with a wadded up piece going across your forehead and the loose edge of it going over the top of your head to cover your hair.!

Bring the short end of the cloth (in your right hand) around the back of your head and tuck it under the long end (in your left hand) coming around the other side. after tucking it under take it over the top of the cloth and under again. Now you should be able to let the long end dangle at your side. You should have a tight wrap of cloth around your head with a loose covering over your grape!

Now just wrap the long end around your face several times covering your mouth and neck as you go! They are really very efficient at keeping sand and such out of your face. hope this helped!!

What do you need flexi-cuffs for?

Have you tried just putting them into a pouch on your LBE or maybe in the thigh cargo pocket on comabts/bdus.

Couldn't help ya there. I've never messed with a Shemagh myself.

Shemagh's own. I'm probably going to use mine tomorrow if it's as cold as it was today. It's really nice and warm.

Sabre's top tip for the day...

...Don't go out in Texas with a shemag around your head. Something tells me you won't get the best reception.

Instead, wear it round your neck. I fold it diagonally to form a triangle, roll it slightly and then wrap it aroung my neck with the 'fat' part of the triangle at the front, keeping my chest/neck warm when my smock is open. That and a woolly hat is just the job! Plus you don't become the latest 'in season' game in Texas! ;)

Do this.

Open it out fully. Grab one corner and hold it up. Treat the hanging shemagh like a rope. Tie a release knot about 1/3 of the way in from the corner you hold. Place the shemagh on your head with the knot at the back (Where your neck runs into your head ;) )

Gather together the rest of the shemag at your forehead and twist it to form a cord. Not too tightly. then wrap this around your head and tuck in.

Pull the release knot, and you should have a free bit of shemagh hanging at the back. this can either be used to cover your face, or just tuck it in too.

Another way is good for regulating your head temperature, but you need a handkerchief or a bit of material.

Hold the shemagh as above. Tie a knot in the very end. Place shemagh on head with knot on forehead.

Take the Hankerchief and roll it into a long 'rope'. form it into a ring. place it on your head, on top of the shemagh

twist the shemagh material at the back a couple times then fold the shemagh back over your head, sandwiching the ring between the two layers of shemagh.

twist the remainder at the front into a 'rope' and wrap around and tuck in securely.

The 'ring' of handkerchief creates and air gap in the shemagh which helps to insulate your head.

Hehe.

I wear mine as a scarf as well. They are great for keeping the cold off your face, but I prefer to wear a patrol cap/wooly hat on me bonce, and if it gets real cold, pull the shemagh up.

As for the flexicuffs, a carabiner is what you need.

Flex-Cuffs - Over the shoulder looped through PALS channels on the back of body armour with the lock end at the top ready to grab or if your belt fits tightly into your trousers, through the belt loops.

rofl rofl

I'll give the Turban a try. I would use a wooly hat but they're always oversized and look weird on my head. :| I have only found one that ever fit well and I dont know what happened to it. :(

with our ghetto ones (smaller) we pre-made them by looping one and then looping a second into it without tightening either of them, then clipped them onto a Carabiner that was looped through a couple of the loops on the front. *grab* *unclip* *wrestle around a little* *tighten*
