How do I surf without letting a site know my IP? Software?

Is there a program or web site that will allow me to surf without a site knowing my IP? My IP was banned at a forum and I was curious if there is a site or program that allows me to surf anonamously without letting the site know my IP so I can get back on. Any help = appreciated!

you can use some routing programs that would fake your i.p, and can totally fake your destination. otherwise there is no way to totally delete it...

I also know how to reset your IP with your ISP but i forget how.

good way to start is: http://www.stayinvisible.org

there go to "proxy list" or something.. and then use proxies on the list .. you gotta put in both IP and Port.. as not all proxies run under port 80....

as long as the proxy doesn't actively give your IP out (which they usually don't do) your real IP is hidden from those websites you are visiting, as long as it is coverd by HTTP (which runs on port 80), some proxies also support HTTPS but that is another topic.. so don't do any FTP downloads from the websites you're visiting, cause those will cause your comp to directly connect to the webserver that hosts your site... which will give away your IP

that's because some sites try to trace back your connection, they do this by setting the TTL (time-to-live) of the IP packets covering the HTTP packets (encapsulation) to low values and slowly increase them until they hit the "end" of the connection.. your system... this is only sometimes possible ... namely in the case that the proxy requests the website contents with his IP adress and then only replaces the senders address of the webserver by his when sending the packet to you .. but decreases the TTL field normally.. that makes your connection still trace-able...

the solution is: look for a Proxy that resets the TTL flag. so packets don't "time-out" on their way to you .. that's time-expensive however... you would have to check every one by hand.. until you find one..

you are still pretty safe with the normal method i explained before because many webservers simply don't do it because it's too bandwidth-expensive doing a trace on every user connecting to the server.

that's why militaryphotos.net has that "REAL" mail-adress thingie.. that makes becoming a user more difficult.. and blocking IP adresses is not a very good solution as many users from europe get assigned a new one everytime they connect to their ISP (you could however block the whole tree.. but that's another story).. otherwise... you're right i can't see a reason why any non-criminal (or non-bugger) user would want to hide his IP adress.

Yeah, there used to be a program called GhostSurf that did exactly that. I saw it a couple years ago. Don't know if it's still around.

well whenever i need anonymity when surfing the web and using ie i just use a public proxy server. you can find them on google. of course they are slow as hell...
