Yes, but they might call it differently. If I am not mistaken, Escrima or Arnis is indegenously Southern Philippine in origin.

Yes, you're right, but in german, the KSK learns WT and Escrima too. There are many parallels between WT and Escrima, so its very good to learn them both! I learn both, too ; :)

This post is about "chinese soldiers in training" NOT "how do u like hit my avatar?" intiendes por que?
Oh please!!!! Sure that LOOKS impressive but really its just a confidence builder. What are they gonna do, karate chop through Chobham armor plate???
Look, I practiced Tae Kwon Do for 6 years and got really into it. When I achieved my red belt I began training in breaking. First attempt was one board, easy. Second attempt was 2, easy. Break three was 3 and I broke my hand :) After you learn your limits and to concentrate its VERY simple. After my hand healed and I got my confidence back I went for 3 again and succeeded. The most I broke was 5. The biggest reason people fail a break and end up breaking thier hand is being timid and scared....and pulling a half assed strike....ounce you learn just to dedicate 100% to the strike its simple. Sure it does take a bit of bravery and skill but its not some super kill skill or anything. Its really all in the mind. I've seen skinny dudes break way more than I could yet I was stronger then them. They were just more dedicated and into breaking than I was.
Next, I'd be interested to see what kind of materials those "bricks" are made of. Often in those kinds of "demonstrations" its made of certian material designed to break easily. Most of the martial arts demonstrations you see where the guy flies around and breaks 10 boards in a few seconds all around him and above him: The boards are pre-cut to break with a light hit. People who dont know martial arts are amazed he can break the board but any trained martial artist watching the "show" is not impressed by the "easy break" boards: Its the stamina, coordination, strength, concentration etc it takes to execute a set piece of acrobatics, kicks, and punches to complete the sequence.
Now in a breaking test like the one I broke my hand on, the boards are real and they are damn hard!!! But I also did demonstrations for audiences and in those cases the boards are "easy break". Anyone go to a demonstration and watch how they almost ALWAYS break evenly and at exactly the same place even when struck from a position where little power can be achieved............thats a clear sign they are easy breaks. Now, some people use real boards but MOST use the pre-cuts for demo's. For competition its real, but not for demo's.
Now, cinder block breaking is a little bit different. Thats something I never did!!! Dont know much about that.
I liken these kinds of military demonstrations more to a magic show than anything else. Its all about the illusion of power.
These "elite Chinese forces" dont impress me. Show me some video of them doing live fire room clearing drills, show me thier long range navigation skills, show me how many languages they speak, show me thier demolitions skills, electronics skills, show me how many pieces of equipment they are certified to operate, show me some scuba shots, some alpine warfare training, jungle training,.........tell me about any combat experience they have against pirates or drug dealers or whatever.........THEN I will decide to be impressed or not!!!
notice in the shot of the Chinese soldier breaking a brick on his head: The brick is basically shattering into dust. That is a clear sign its made of weak materials and not a "real" brick as in one you might find at a local building site.
Oh and no, its not a sign of this soldiers super power and concentration that he is dusting a real brick. Take a sledghammer to a real brick and it wont shatter into dust like that. It will crack and small pieces will fly but it wont pulvarize like that............
US soldiers faced Chinese soldiers suring the Korean War. Thats the last real combat between Chinese and American forces and guess what: From a tactical sense the average United States soldier proved to have superior fighting skills. Sure, we were nearly pushed into the sea by the initial assault, but in terms of losses, the Chinese had to absorb huge losses to achieve that............
hell just the other day I saw a dude pull a car with his nipples........does that make him a "bad ass mofo"? Uh, well Im impressed by his dedication to work out what is essentially a stunt but other than that........nope.
I put it this way, I wouldnt use those bricks to build my house with :). Maybe thats just low grade Chinese building material. After all, a small earthquake typically takes down every two story building in the village so.........
I guess they havnt stolen United Brick's secret brick recipe yet.........but Im sure they will.

Chinese forces have historically not performed very well under combat conditions. They didnt prove the equal of the average Vietnamese guerilla when China tried to stomp on Vietnam, they did prove the equal of the Japanese during WW2, and they didnt prove the equal of the Americans during the Korean War.
I wonder how often Chinese soldiers are used in anti-piracy (uh, and I dont mean bootlegging of US goods which they sure as hell dont fight against) operations and anti-drug operations. I'd be interested to see thier performance on those operations.

it's funny because theres only 2 pictures showing any kind of brick breaking and yet from that you somehow generalize that thats all they do. And then you go off on some insane rant about north korea and american wank fest. Give it up, people are just trying to share pictures and I for one enjoy seeing something different once in awhile.

The way they enter an enemy building is by using one of their own as a battering ram.
Anyways, these dudes look like maniacs. Like they'd come up to you, rip your heart out, put it into a doggy bag without even thinking. Like in the old martial arts movies.. Or like in dumb and dumber.

"A significant reduction in controlled territory". Wow, so if the armistice line was in the MIDDLE of Korea and the Chinese settled for a LARGE REDUCTION of land, then that would mean that china must have pushed much FARTHER down Korea.
I could say I'm amazed that they didn't get Soeul, but then, with Canadians, Auzzies and the British protecting it, I'm not THAT amazed, lol.

Well , someone talk about the korea war.
From the records of USA, during the korea war the loss of USA is :
Died: 33629 +20600>50000
wounded: 103248
Unidentified: 8142 (must be died)
The loss of Rebulic of Korea is:
Died: 227800
wounded:717100
Now you guys open your eyes and see the loss of PLA:
Died: 114 000
Wounded: 276000
So, I cannot understand the so-called "superior fighting skills" of USA soldier.
Who can tell?
