Hey I have a 20minute presentation about body armor. If you guys can post some sites with information, that would be great. I got bulletproofme.com and howstuffworks. Too bad pointblank body armor 101 wasnt up. If you guys got any other information such as the future of body armor, that would be great aswell.

Thanks in advance.

Whole bunch of articles, pictures, and whatnot in this (http://www.militaryphotos.net/forums/viewtopic.php?t=31865&postdays=0&postorder=asc&start=0) thread, particularly about the US Army Force Warrior armor.

Let me know if you have any specific questions. I did quite a bit of research before purchasing mine. Interesting stuff...

I cant seem to find information about how stab vests are made differently compared to ballistic ones.

Try researching the national institute of justice standards

quick search gave me this site.

Kevlar stops a bullet by "catching"..the bullet is spinning and gets caught in the tightly woven fibers.

Typically the kevlar is only able to stop pistol, shotgun and SMG rounds upt to 2500 fps. As you probably know momentum= mass*velocity
So the size, and speed of the round affect the momentum of the round.
IFIRC A smaller faster round is more difficult to stop than a heavier round.

Anyway, a sharp object (knife, arrow etc) cuts the fibers rather than getting caught up in them. A stab resistant plate is typically used in prison or riot BA. A rifle plate (level III or higher) wil stop a knife as well as many rifle round.

Let me just give a general disclaimer, I did quite a bit of research but don't take my word for it. Try and find a primary source.

Hope that helps

Well we are on the topic I heard that some body armour carriers are "stab proof". I heard it was something to do with Finnish and Russian covers, the conversation was awhile ago in IRC......

If anyone can remeber or expand on this please do :D

Ya I got that one already.

So I got an extension the presentation because the computer froze and I lost about 80% of it.
