I'll be deploying again soon, and 'lo and behold, my unit has the same M16's we went with last time. I was truly hoping for a better weapon, but one doesn't seem to be forthcoming. So here I am, trying to find a way to securly mount my EOTech Holosight (off my own M4 type carbine, which they steadfastly refuse to let me take =P) to the carry handle of an M16 A2. I've tried a plain stud mount, they don't work worth a damn. I'm hoping for a more sturdy solution (like, I can pitch it from the back of a 5 ton and it retains zero). Any ideas?
(I know theres alot of threads out there like this, but none of them cover attaching the sight to a carry handle, which is my only choice right now.)

A cantalever mount from PRI, ARMS or the Bennie Cooley one would work well. It would be a little more protected then if it was on the carry handle. Are they going to issue you M5 RAS? If so you could mount it directly to it.

Actually, that didn't occur to me, except it'll be very expensive. An M5 RAS goes for ~$250, and the cantilever mount is another ~$100. Granted, I can mount alot of things to the M5 RAS in addition to the Holosight (or Aimpoint, I may end up purchasing one yet), but it's still more than I'd like to spend. Any other ideas?

This might work if you mount the Eotech forward of the carrying handle. There are all sorts of good mounts on that site. I have a Bi-level SIR on a stumpy M4 with an Aimpoint, and the combo is great.
Good luck. Watch your six.
