i have noticed that many, many forces are starting to use monoculars. what's the deal?

they integrate better with their weaponsystems.

i know that... it's easier to see through optics and such, but are most forces moving over to monoculars?

It has more to do with the functionality of a monocular. Having two lenses in front of you doesn't allow for good peripheral views. It helps with a little depth perception. You can still walk and run without falling down. Not so bulky. In short for ground ops, a monocular is a better option.
plus in an urban environment, its better to have a monocular NVG beause you never know when somebody will turn the light or flashlight on and blind you, at least if that happens you have 1 eye...

most NV has a built in light sensor to turn off befor that happens my guess is so you can still use your weapon, or but a NV scope on the rifle and the other eye can still see in the dark

NV's will automatically shut off if there's a light overload. Having a light turn on isn't an issue.

when i was in SF op detachment delta, we used those vehicles to breach buildings from the roof or second floor when we wouldn't use ladders.

i'm just kidding around, man. I'm not even in medical school yet.
Anyway, those vehicles are used to breach the second floor of buildings.
Currently in development is a vehicle with a retractable ladder/platform system that works a little better than this improvised system.

it's a breaching modification to a hummer. look at the ladder going up to the platform, the angle of the platform, and the handles.
seoulstriker is right, it's used to get onto higher floors of buildings...
