I'm looking into a new fleece for the winter months coming up here in NY, and I stumbled across Cabela's SPEAR jacket. And I thought, "hey, that works!".
However, I need it to be windproof also. http://www.cabelas.com/cabelas/en/templates/links/link.jhtml?id=0027116950549a&type=product&cmCat=search&returnString=No=0&hasJS=true&Nty=1&Go.y=0&Ntx=matchall&Go.x=0&Ntt=windstopper&N=4887&QueryText=windstopper&noImage=0&_D%3AhasJS=+&_DARGS=%2Fcabelas%2Fen%2Fcommon%2Fsearch%2Fsearch-box.jhtml.22&Ntk=Products&returnPage=search-results1.jhtml
Anyone have experience with GTX's Windstopper? Or better yet, with this jacket? My only concern is that it won't have the insulation properties of the SPEAR jacket, but that doesn't really matter when the wind rips through.

I'm not paying the money for one from U.S. Cav, when I can get practically the same thing (minus pit zips) from Cabelas. If I was made of money, well, that would be a differen't story. Nobody has any experience with Goretex Windstopper linings? Or with the Cabela's Titans Jacket?

Do you live near a cabelas? Might be worth it to check it out in person before you get it...

I bought the Cabella's version of the spear. It's a good all around jacket. It's made to the same specs as the offical issue and has the pit zips. Only problem is if it's windy, you do need a wind shell, but it also works good as a jacet liner for really cold weather. Also, try Ebay.

Well, I went ahead and ordered the Titan Windstopper over the SPEAR from Cabelas. Mostly because it will be my outermost layer a lot, and it gets windy and wet here. I'll post a two part review when it get it (when I actually receive it, and when I use it first).
