The news article says: "KUWAIT CITY -- Armed with high-tech weapons, night-vision goggles and pictures of their targets, small teams of Delta Force commandos will soon descend on the outskirts of Baghdad to begin the most anticipated mission of the war: capturing or, if possible, killing Saddam Hussein."

Of course, this could be merely an over-zealous interpolation on the part of the author of the article.

Heard something similar on CNN or MSNBC last night, except it was more to kill if they can't capture the person.

I'm sorry...but in my unqualified opinion this article is rubbish. Delta Commandos hiding in Baghdad and shutting everything down there with their laptops? And finaly finding S.H. with some high tech stuff and killing him, verifying the whole process with his DNA? This certainly has some romatic ring to it and would certainly make a good movie... but it seems rather unrealistic.

I think it is simply BS or even part of some desinformation campaign that is running...since Iraqis surf the net, too. (Perhaps they even watch TV).
Perhaps some PsyOp guys want just to give their iraqi counterparts something to worry about.

Just my opinion of course...

Personally my bet is that he's going to go out like Hitler with a self inflicted head wound. I seriously doubt he'd give us the satisfaction of killing him.

I agree with Hood.

although the DNA testing to confirm that Saddam IS dead will take place. They don't want some hard-core nut jobs thinking he's still alive and carrying on a "defense of Saddam" thing.

But yeah, numbers and the whole thing seema bit too detailed when dealing with Delta and the CIA.

Although...that part about the Jordanian SF....interesting if it's true. I wonder if the French Foreign Legion is also going to fight?

also...sorta related....is it true that the Iraqi military is not allowing civilians to evaquate Baghdad? I heard on the news the Army is the only people going in or out of Baghdad and they have like commendiered all the buses and taxis and stuff to move troops around. Anyone else think this is just more proof of how screwed up Saddam is?

this guy thinks too much of himself to self inflict a wound.he's a coward.he's going to wait till the last minute to get out.the only thing is i think he's going to miscalculate how much time he has and we might kill him if the iraqis don't do a a la musolini on him and string him up in baghdad.i say we give him one of his famous acid baths.

our govt would never give out this kind of information on deltas operations. that article is bogus. how the hell would that author know anyways.

Well as far as Spec Ops guys being "assassination squads" it has been heard before. That is all the SAS is, if you ask the IRA. So the ol' grain of salt is needed here.

And just out of curiosity, warchild, why do you say Saddam is a coward? I am not supporting him or anything, I just would like to hear an intelligent discussion on the subject.

Yeah I'd probably say he's just an idiot vs. a coward. repeatedly being defiant of the world, and voluntarily going to war with us isn't particularly cowardly. He murdered his first man when he was only a teenager. He took power of Iraq with force.. not cowardly moves.

He definiteley is no coward. And hearing the interview I do not think that he is an idiot, either.
Besides expect the worst in war. To underestimate your enemy is one of the worst mistakes you can make. The consequences of overestimation are usually not that dire.

Anyone who is so far out of touch from reality is messed up in the head. He gave a calm and collected interview, but according to him, Iraq wasn't defeated in the last gulf war. He also said that he wouldn't set his oil wells on fire. There's satellite photos of them already draining oil into the desert. Maybe sociopath would be the most accurate term.
