Just because he plays airsoft and gets enthusiastic about it doesn't mean he deserves comments like "OMG it's Delta!" Why is it ok to bitch about enthusiatic airsofters spending their money how they want, but paintballers get away with spending hundreds of thousands on their sport? I'm not saying one is better than the other, because both have their pros and cons, but leave the kid alone. He's just having fun. These pictures are pretty good. Furthermore he's not imitating anyone in the service exactly which speaks well for him in my book. Keep in mind it's a game folks, there's no need to flame him any more than an enthusiatic baseball player who spends his money buying bats and gloves and other related gear. Cut him a break, he's just having fun and to no one's expense.

with all due respect with what he's doing .... he posted this thread in the 'Strictly Photos & Video' Forum ....falsely claiming to be 'contractors' .... now i (and others) replied to this thread when it was still in 'strictly photos' ...Hood later moved it here because that's where it belonged ...
If he wanted to showcase his airsoft photos he should have posted it here (in the first place).... the correct thread ...and we would not have trashed it with 'OMD deltas' ...... we would have left you guys alone! nuff said ...and have a good one ;)

Simple misunderstanding on my part. Thanks for the clarification, but I still don't retract my statement, because that is a commonly shared opinion of these guys. Just playing advocate for their side. But nothing personal, djon! :)

And carry spares, mags etc. in a Nike bookbag? ;)

Seriously though, why do we wear/use military gear? Because it works the best for our hobby. Although I guess that should mean we'd all be running about in surplus kit with belt order spraying thousands of BBs about. Some people might even enjoy that! For me one of the most entertaining weekends I've ever had resulted in me firing a total of fifteen shots and not even at anyone. Different strokes for different folks.

I am however totally against people passing themselves off as something they are not.

I agree with you that the two are separate. No one is making any connection between the two at this juncture. However, I find it extremely ignorant and hypocritical though that one may be so negligent to say that airsoft is the only combat simulation. Why isn't TP flaming paintball or simunitions? Why isn't TP flaming lazer tag? Nerf guns? Super soakers? Cap guns? Using fingers as guns? I figure if airsoft offends him so bad, why doesn't he go after a little 3 year old playing soldier in a backyard? Aren't THEY TOO imitating something they aren't? I'd say it's pretty hypocritical, because I'd say the majority of folks in the service have once played soldier or cops and robber or something else when they were kids... I realize the kid made a mispost and it might have been intentional. Maybe he was trying to get more feedback. Or in your defense, TP (you need all the help you can get), he really was doing it to piss you off. Nevertheless, give the kid a break, he's a kid.

They dont go after paintballers and lazer tagers etc.. because they are not wearing military gear and playing war.
"Just a Kid" hes doesnt look like a kid he looks like hes 17-18 years old. TP and Argyll shouldnt have to explain why they're pissed off, it should be quite obvious. Id be pissed off to if I was in the same boat as them. There is nothing wrong with airsofting in my opinion Id actually like to try it sometime. But seeing someone 'dress up' as a security contractor and not knowing what these guys have to go through on a daily basis pisses me off too.

Should be noted that in one of the photos hes got a calico jack patch... Just in case nobody spotted that.
Edit: Maybe I'm being ignorant as hell, but I recall one of the mods saying that the calico jack indicated the individual sporting the patch was a part of ... seal team six or something? Dont remember exactly.

Just to clear this up a bit, I am not defending DarkFace at all and I don't think his previous remarks were justified. But on the matter of airsofters having Impressions, I feel there is nothing wrong with that unless they begin to say "i'm PMC" or "I'm SF" and especially posting it in the Strictly Photos And Videos section, then thats disrespectful.

I don't want to get into this anymore. This is turning into a flame war against all airsofters. And again, I respect your former service.

All you guys know this acronym:

Who Gives A ****.

I don't know why I replied to this post, but I do wish to know why you guys do. Triggerpuller, dude, why are you wasting your time online at all? Just ignore people, you will live longer and have lower blood pressure.

I get my gear on to train. I don't have fun often, and I kinda don't ever have fun whilst wearing gear. I own and use airsoft guns. I'm prepping myself for a hopeful commission to remove the crappy E3 pay.

Am I a bad guy?

I did not know you had an album. Will check that out soon as I wake up, damn work.

I'm not with any unit right now. I work in a gun store in California. I was enlisted, 11B, but got disqualified after AIT / before RIP (75th RR) because of a damned heart problem I got when I was 13. Waiting 2 years for a waiver, hopefully a commission so I can afford ****.

If I had a choice, I'd pick 101st Airborne. My **** disqualifies me from "fun schools", like RS, and anything anywhere near Camp Darby. :|

EDIT: Hey you are into Filipino CQC crap? Do you have any recomendations on a good Kerambit?

EDIT #2: Only thing I thought was funny in your album was how you still have the pintle mount adapter on your '249! Must get in the way! Just joking.

EDIT #482: HOLY **** who are those women you got there?!! Bastard...

Let's just say he shouldn't wear that patch.

It was me who gave the info about the patch, which I picked up on another forum, but if you've been reading and looking at the SEAL's involved in the new "alleged abuse" thread these guys are wearing the Pirate patch, and I'm sure the Team involved was ST5,now I'm no expert on US SOF,met a few,and count a lot as personal friends,as to whether they're ST 5 or 6 it matters not,it's a patch that is earned through Blood ,sweat and tears!

James knows what I mean....it's not flattering to those Guys who do this for real, having people dress up and "play"at Soldiers ,Sailors or Marines,it's embarrasing and they really don't like this form of "emulation",if people want to dress up and "act" like SEAL's or any other TIER 1 unit, then they should try doing it in real life,go through the pain barrier just like they did.

I can understand the passion behind airsoft/paintball,but people did not go out and but $1000's of dollars worth of gear for a bit of fun,you want to be as real as it comes soldiers, then go and join your National Guard/Territorial Army units......but I'm against the wearing of any Regimental regalia, especially if you've have NOT earned the right to do so,keep the cammo bdu's,but lose the Unit ID's,and then the BTDT's will not get so pent up about this whole airsoft thing.

Just curious, what are your views on historical re-enactors?

These words!!
Most re-enactors are recreating something from the past, they also put on public shows and dispalays, act as Extras's in TV and Movies etc, they are not pretending to be anything, they are recreating, for most of it "Historical Facts".

Now again, airsoft is big business,it's becoming the fastest growing "hobby"both in CONUS and UK,it's a Million dollar business, and the manufacturers are no slouche's when it come's to marketing....using phrases like....." as used by US Navy SEAL's","as worn by SOF"....etc etc etc......it makes good business sense,in business to make it big there's no room for sentiment, and everything is marketable.........unfortunately this includes using the deeds and good names of our Militaries to make the big bucks........it's here to stay we must accept it.

But I cannot get my head round those blokes who spend this amount of money just to "look" good,................"the gear does not maketh the warrior".

I buy gear not to look the dog's bollox, but because I have to,it's a requirement for the environment ,situation and the mission,it's for practical purposes, not to be the Gucci guy,or the No.1 for the "CDI"factor, you can get done for impersonating a Cop,impersonating a member of the Armed Forces I also believe is a criminal offence, something that's getting overlooked a lot of the time.

Like I said, keep the national flags on your BDU's just leave out the unit patches, rank insignia and merit badges.......unless you earned them! ;)

Educate my lame LEG ass. What is a BTDT?

On another note, for training stuff, I wear patches that I like whenever I go training. One is a pirate one similar to the background on that PIRATES OF THE CARRIBEAN movie, and another is from a Canadian TV show (Red Green Show), says "Quano Omni Flunkus Moritati", which means "If all else fails, play dead". Pretty good and true, if you ask me.

Oh yeah, and I have 5 ranger tabs, 4 scuba, 8 air assault, 3 airborne, 16 pathfinder, 3 drill instructor, and 42 (!) Special forces patches on my BDU's! ;)

First off, let me commend you for that great play on a username. Must have taken you a while. I'm glad to see you've got plenty of brains as well as brawn.

Second, how dare you make the assumption that I've never been in the line of fire. Just because I don't get paid by a contracting company doesn't mean I've never seen a bullet fly by my head. Doesn't mean I've never seen a mate die. I train with airsoft on occasion, but that doesn't mean anything. You don't know me at all. I respect that uniform just as much as you or any of us do. I'll give you that I think it's wrong for them to plaster themselves in the exact patches and emblems they haven't earned, but as far as kitting up in old LC-2 gear and their dad's woodland BDUs, I don't have a problem with these guys having a little fun. I go to the field and usually talk to these kids and the majority of them have every intention of earning a uniform of their own when they get older. The truth is they idolize men in uniform. They idolize you too, TP. They don't do it out of disrespect but out of something much more valiant. While you may feel it's a blow to the training and action you've sweated and bled through, I honestly think it's what they do out of admiration. So rather than using profanity to come back at you or some lame insults, I'm going to keep sticking up these airsofters. I understand when it gets out of hand, and I'll admit this guy shouldn't have posted where he did, but you bitched him out after it was moved. After the fact. It shouldn't be an issue anymore, but you seem to respond so vulgarly to anyone trying to give these guys a break. Just think of these guys as admirers rather than vandals to the cause.

I agree in the sense of not wearing patches that you havent earned. But in that alone, means that I disagree with re-enactors, actors, stuntmen and there costume designers. Its almost like seeing someones sup'd up honda and screaming "your not f*cking Dale Earnhart you n00b". Alot of people can fall into the "poser" catagory to some, to others they see it as a hobby and nothing more then that.

If theres such a problem with patches go down to your military store and demand them to stop selling them. Better yet, go educate local airsofters that you dont appreciate there patches of real units being used. Sure makes alot more sense then a 75 post reply thread in a airsoft forum on a military forum.

Lately theres been alot of bad mouthing of airsofters (mods included), if you dont like this portion of the site stay out, just like I dont like the portion of the invite only (you dont see me in there now do you?).
Us airsofters arnt trying to cause **** if a photo or a set of photo's accidentally misplaced in the wrong section, although trying to explain that to some is like talking to a egyptian in a tomb a week after burial.

Just who the fok are you to tell a mod of stay out of a section in this forum?.........you have some nerve pal,the mods have made their point about the wearing of stuff NOT EARNED,stop attempting to stir the ****,as for the pontless part about the Invite only Forum, well it's only too easy to have you removed,if you're not contributing then it's pointless being there!!

And if you've been here long enough this very subject about the wearing of Patches in fact it's been going on for as long as I've been posting here,it's not something that has cropped up recently......and if you care to actually read what people write,I've said I have nothing against them, but I do when it comes to looking like an extra from BHD(SFOD-D),complete with all the trimmings then it over steps the mark, you want to be SFOD_D,then join the Army, and go thru the same selection process the "real deals" have gone thru.
But lest talk about this "education" you mentioned, well Einstien, you're the airsofter, what are you doing in the terms of educating your wee group of pretend soldiers,in the finer points of Regimantal Pride and history,if you're frequenting Military based sites, then you should be doing the educating,as you are part of the group, there's nothing worse than an outsider telling you what you can and cannot do!
Now once again, keep the BDU's and the National flags, but lose the insignia, and unit patches, but just remember at the end of the day, you're not Special Op's personnel, you're just playing a GAME,there are people here who do this for real,in real warzones, where it's not BB's that get fired at you ,it's 7.62mm short!!
It's not much to ask for or to respect is it?

What you are talking about here is a minority of airsofters thought, maybe this is a American thing? I've been playing for awhile now and I've yet to see a team dressed up like "SOF" (the closest it came was a bunch of guys that are in the army). Most airsofters I've came across were there local clubs badge and a name tape, there camo's assembled to resemble no particular nation and gear sometimes multicolored (or non existant as we still have members play in hoodies and jeans).

As a club we've had this discussion in person and off our forum, we dont claim to be military or wear real unit patches (our clubs like the islands lil dirty secret, we arnt known about and avoid media and newspapers like the bubonic plague to survive). Every once in awhile you'll see someone with a joke patch like the "fun meter" one or a target sign or a canadian flag but thats about it. No navy seal 1337 D3lT@ haxxors here, head south.

You girls wanna play Military thats cool with me its the gear I object too!

Septic uhh I mean sepper, as for you any time you wanna get all geeked up(wear your gear) and come "play" on the 2 way target range you just let me know,Ill hook you up with Blackwater!!

As for being ignorant I thinks its pretty ignorant and disrespectful to wear the exact uniforms that men have earned, bled and died for.Unless it is for historical re-enactment! Maybe if you have lived our life, and I HIGHLY doubt that, then maybe you would understand! Ive earned and wore those uniforms so if you cant see this side of it then you my friend would be the ignorant one!!

TP

My vulgarity offends you....well my heart bleeds for you!! as for my brains I have 2 degrees from a very respected university and Iam working on my third and you bore me with your attempt at intelligent rhetoric!!! Your vulgarity doesn't offend me, I just find it humerous you can't find any other words to use instead. Might want to get that bleeding heart checked out by a doctor... As far as your nearly three degrees, well, we're all proud of you. My heart swells with compassion. Sorry to "bore you with my attempt at intelligent rhetoric". I'll be sure to include diagrams so you can follow next time.

It'll most likely be both location guard and CP, depening on what the client wants to do or to go.
