Hello all,
I'm angry and just wanted to share. Did anyone see CNN last with Aaron Brown. They had this report on about this Marine over in Kuwait who keeps falling out of humps. So the corpsman checks him out and his heart rate is fine, no reason for him to be collapsing. So they pull this kid aside and ask him why he's having so many problems. And his reason..."I haven't heard from my family". WAAAAAAAAA. I'm not being heartless, but I'm sure that none of the other hard charging Devil Dogs in his unit have heard from their families either, and yet their humping the same load!!! I'll admit that I was an admin pogue when I was in but every Marines a rifleman and when I went through my 1 month of combat training at Camp Pendleton I never fell out of a hump, not on the shelf or Mount MF. And what really pissed me off is this kid is from New York. This kid is a disgrace, by sandbagging he is letting down his fellow Marines. The 1st Sgt said that if he keeps it up they'll have to send him back to the ship so that he doesn't get another Marine killed. If I was ever told that by another Marine I would have been devastated. But this kid showed no concern for his fellow Marines. "Semper I" is his motto. I want to say they should put him out in front to test a minefield or something but I'm sure he'd some how screw that up and get a GOOD Marine wounded or killed. Anyway thats my angry rant.
To the 99% Outstanding, Hard Charging Devil Dogs, I wish you the best of luck with your Baghdad Urban Renewal Program and that God watches over you all and keeps you all safe. SEMPER FI!

ah....the whole Patton issue comes to mind. Slap the little prick around a little.
I agree totally. This kid is a little pansy- how the f*ck did he get into the infantry? I mean...I could expect and tolerate this from say an Army National Guardsmen or something, but a grunt in the 1st Marine Div.? Hell no...that **** shouldn't stand at all. Either put him in the rear with the gear so he can save his own ass, or section 8 him and send him home. Not only is he endangering his fellow Marines, but he is disgracing the uniform made great by men who thought nothing of themselves but for others. Men like Sgt. Daly and Chesty Puller.
makes me want to bitch-slap him. :backhand: or fork him :fork:
But to the rest of those Marines (I personally know three infantrymen over there now.) Semper Fi and good hunting.

I havent seen the report on CNN, but here goes my opinion:
That boy should have never reached Kuwait in that state. If he is not able to keep with the training, or feels homesick, or is just terrified, it is not really his fault. All this can happen. What cannot happen is that a person with those problems find it THE DAY BEFORE A BATTLE. It makes one wonder what kind of trainig has he had before. The purpose of extremelly hard training is (among others) to make the soldier decide if that's the kind life he want's to have.
Anyway, He should be sent to the ship straight away. A soldier like that can demoralize a full platoon.

I'm guessing that the media was trying to make you sympathize with the Marine, right?
I really like ABC's Profiles from the Front Lines, so I've been watching their news coverage of the military buildup so far. It looks like they have the most 'on the ground' reports so far in terms of daily episodes of Frontline etc. Concerning the show mentioned originally here, my anger stems from these networks like CNN and ABC that constantly focus on the negatives. Ted Koppel was interviewing all of these army regulars in the mechanized division, _constantly_ digging for "are you afraid?" "Do you forsee problems when you go in?" "Are you going to break down and cry 3 second after you hear a gun fire?" .. it's sickening to see the news media focusing on the negative points including that Marine who couldn't keep up with his group. That's 1 guy out of how many total Marines? It's like our news media works for Saddam and they're doing their best to de-moralize our troops.
And Vance, I'm not seeing the point of your jabbing every time someone makes a spelling mistake. We knew what he meant, which is what counts here.

I really didnt know what he meant. Sorry.

Well dude, this is the only portion of your statement that I completely disagree with. It is his fault. It's all his fault. He wants everything handed to him and he refuses to pull his weight. I watched that program and this kid is a frickin' loser. I can't believe he's a grunt 'cause he's acting like a REMF chapter case. I've deployed too much and seen too many turds like this to ever put up with it. He's a perfect example of a U.S. M.C./U.S. Army welfare case and they won't DX his sorry butt 'cause that would be insensitive. AND NOW, he's had national exposure and if the Marines did DX him, they would get all kinds of hell for not trying to rehabilitate this punk. He should get a square kick in the *uts for embarrasing the Marines like that. I bet he drives a POS tricked out import. Other than that, I agree with you.

Im a high school student in the USMC delayed entry program. Im hoping no one at school saw that. I already have to deal with all the war protesting teachers, and students. If they see stuff like this it will make my 3 months that more of an annoyance to deal with.

David....i live in the same area as Redondomarine, and I can say that redondo is a liberal area- the type of Americans who don't want their quaint little lives interrupted by a war. At least...that's what I've experianced.
I am also in the DEP for the USMC and have taken some flak for joining. Mainly its the "why didnt you go to college" lectures from my school councilors but I also get the "arent you really scared?" statements as well. I am a strong conservative but not a blind one, I have repeatedly tried to understand the ideas of liberals but I cannot ever imagine myself adopting their ways. I thank God we have a strong man as our leader in these tough times, may he lead our great nation to victory in any current and future conflicts.
To all my fellow DEPers and Devil Dogs out there, SEMPER FI!

i don't care if they are liberals and don't support the war, they should at least realize that soldiers in the military are the ones that allow them the freedom to voice their views. of course i'm in a very conservative area and we don't have that many militant liberals around here that I know of.

I liked the one about the SF guys in Afghanistan trying to find the heavy weapons cache in a village. The Al-Queda and Taliban would come into the village, get thier mortars, heavy mgs, etc. and hit a US camp every other night or so then leave the weapons hidden in the village and take off.Pretty interesting.

I was watching 60 Minutes last weekend and they had a piece about how 48% of our armed forces are reservists. They went on to interview some Army NBC inspection/cleanup type crew about their thoughts on the war and going to service. They had a group of 5 soldiers they were asking various general questions to when they asked, "are you scared?"
Well I don't know who let the lone moron woman speak, but she went on to ramble about how she's "very scared" and why, "if we're there on the battlefield it means something really bad has happened." Jesus! Ya know I'm all for equal rights in the military if women can pull their weight (and the weight of a 200 pound man if he's hit) and so on and so forth but what a ridiculous thing to let her say. Way to really kill the morale, dip****.
Don't they brief these folks and tell them to say something from the stock list of answers like, "I'm highly motivated and I'm just going to do my job and hope I can save just one life besides my own"? Yeesh! The officer behind her should have smacked her. I could tell that the other 4 guys actually wanted to though. Strangely enough, now that I think about it, the only people who have expressed any lack of self-confidence or fear have been the women interviewed. Oof.
If I hear one more female talk about how she's a "sister and a daughter and a mother and then a soldier" I'm going to slap some faces. Do this ladies... say hi to your kids, and talk about kicking some ass...leave Oprah and Dr. Phil at home.

YEAH!!! Go Angus!!! Some of these people just dont get it. Has anyone else's girl friend not been able to understand that the service we serve in comes first. Mine doesn't I tell her this and she got pist.
In responce to some of the previous post, i would love to beat some of these liberals ass around my school. That just raises a lot more problems. I run the risk of assualt charges, Im 18 so if I did I'd have to make sure it is not a minor. Also Im defending there right to speach and if I did do that we would live in a country where the government oppresses its people. Not to mention, just before Gen. Jones left he sent out an order saying members of the delayed entry program are to not make any statements about war except stuff like I will do what ever it is Im ordered to do, or something along those lines.

A man in the marines acts like a total punk and he's a moron, ONE WOMAN says something stupid and it's because she's a woman? Morons are in both genders rather equaly, it's not because she's a woman that she made that statement, it's because she's a moron. That's like me saying that kid slacked because he's a man. Alot of women are in Iraq now, one a POW, 3 I think are MIA, and one more has died in Afganistan (spell check), I think we've more than proved our capabilities as women in the military. Moral of the story, hold the statements to the responsible moron that said it. Not the entire gender.
