- Not sure what you mean by Bergen - I'll explain. The British WWII Bergen was actually a copy of a Norwegian designed rucksac ( used by their Ski troops ) that the British used in limited numbers and AFAIK were only on issue to specialist troops like Commandos, SAS etc. Other troops were issued with a large pack which finally got ditched when we gave up '58 pattern webbing. The term bergen later became a generic term for any rucksac in the present day army. Do you mean the large pack or the one based on the Norwegian ski rucksac ?

Sorry to tease you mate, but it's not for sale. I picked it up from a local market stall a few years back for £4 and I'm keeping hold of it. As for getting one, they're hard to find, but just keep searching on google for WW2 kit and you should find one.

Well, the one in the pics above isn't mine, I nabbed them from an airborne re-enactor's site. Mine's in a similar sort of condition though. Interesting bit of kit.

Actually, I just noticed that the bergen in the pics i posted hasn't got the straps that sit above each of the side pouches. So mine's technically in better condition. :)
Not bad for £4... :D
