annoying desktop problem...

I just started having this problem but on my desktop it has the folder view on the left side " folder task" "other places" and "details" and I can't seem to change it......any suggestions?

You mean when you have a folder open?

If that's the case, try opening a folder, then going to Tools then Folder Options, and try switching "Show common tasks in folders" to "Use Windows classic folders"

try unloading windowblinds and see if anything changes. Something similar happend to me once but I still had my taskbar...
