indeed a colt SMG. also, the palestinian is'nt carrying a regular landmine - this is a roadside bomb, probbably the type that shoots a large steel chunk at its target (unlike shaped charge or AP mines, this one can penetrate an APC, and even older tanks, like a hot knife through butter).

The D9ers call the "spoon" in the name "blade" although the term "shovel" is also accepted.

Not only the D9s do the life-saving work of exposing and detonating belly charges in the Gaza Strip. The Bedouin trackers and the EOD squads of Givati are also should be appreciated for their excellent job. Many large belly charges were discovered by Bedouin trackers and detonated safely.

The D9s oftens detonate belly charges by mistake. Literally, they accidently hit them and make them explode. Usually, no damage is caused to the bulldozer and to its operators. There are even reports of IDF armoured D9 bulldozer who detonated 200kg explosive belly-charge without being damaged seriously. The D9 record in this field is excellent: no D9 operator have died because of belly-charges.

I think that what people fail to recognize is that the whole palestinian issues has been hijacked by ultra conservative parts of the islamic world to use as an excuse to allow terrorism. The palestinian people should understand something, they have no freinds, even in the arab world. They and their cause are just being used as a pretext to forment trouble. My prediction of the future is that Israel and the palestininas will eventually make peace but that would be a mistake because as soon as israel lays down it arms, the would be invaded. But then someone is going to come from the sky in chariots of fire to deliver them once agin.

so where did you hear that Israel is going to purchase these. ( I mean I am not doubting it for both countries have relations and there is in fact Israeli technology in the Canadian forces as well, I even know of Israeli generals in the past that have been invited by Canada to lecture to the Canadian forces in the past)

Oh and what makes this special (I am not challenging you, I simply and honestly don’t know much about this Canadian vehicle)
Also, I see tons of pictures of candian forces in Afghanistan riding in open jeeps. Why do they do that?!?
(And didn’t a few Canadians get killed last week riding in one of those open jeeps?!? If so why do they have them?!?)

Liberal politics my friend. Nothing but a bunch of B.S. and distaste for our military.
The jeeps are called Iltis's (german for weasel). Two brave paratroopers were killed oct2 while riding in one and 3 injured when they hit a land mine that was planted there presumably by terrorists. Even if they were in a tank they wouldnt have survived the blast but the fact is that it could have minimized the injuries.
I know that some Israelis have been invited to Canada to lecture our soldiers on battle fatigue, due to the fact that our soldiers are constantly being deployed and get practically no rest. What equiptment have the israelis given to us? Im pretty sure there is some but i dont know what.

Liberal politics my friend. Nothing but a bunch of B.S. and distaste for our military. . yeah I hear you buddy, I mean its one thing if a country doesn’t have the money to do this, but Canada most certainly does, but yet refuses to spend the adequate money to do it. That is simply appalling.

I know that some Israelis have been invited to Canada to lecture our soldiers on battle fatigue, due to the fact that our soldiers are constantly being deployed and get practically no rest. . I don’t think that was the main reason. No, they came to lecture about some of Israel’s military successes and to share some modern battlefield tactics that Israel has learned through those experiences.

What equiptment have the israelis given to us? Im pretty sure there is some but i dont know what. to tell you the truth I am not sure on the specifics, but I do remember reading in the past that deals from Israel have been made by various Israeli military companies, now as to what specifically Canada got, I don’t know.

Secondly, most or a lot of the Canadian military is from U.S. military equipment, which it self have numerous embedded Israeli technology into them.

You didn’t answer what’s so special about that Canadian vehicle(Canadaian LAVIII ) and why it would be a good addition to Israel’s needs. (again I am not challenging you here, I just don’t know much about that vehicle and what are its pros in the battlefield)

Actually i wouldnt say most of our equiptment is american. The LAVIII is a great APC and light attack vehicle in one, and would be alot better suited to israels needs than the Merkava which shouldnt be going into those areas because they are slow and vulnerable to attacks. The LAVIII's could come in drop off a group of soldiers suppress fire and then rip it on out of there before you can say Hava negela*spelling*. haha
And most of israels fighting is done in urban areas. So i think it would be a great asset to their inventory.
Plus it would be good for Israel to get a little closer to Canada in terms of military relations. We have stuff to learn from you, and you have stuff to learn from us. woot

I mean is that vehicle a replacement for a MBT or for an apc?!?

The LAVIII's could come in drop off a group of soldiers suppress fire and then rip it on out of there before you can say Hava negela*spelling*. Hahavery well said there my friend :D . I genuinely liked the way you phrased that. (Seriously :D )

And most of israels fighting is done in urban areas. So i think it would be a great asset to their inventory. yeah I see a need for it but why should say Israel buy it from Canada when the U.S. produces similar platforms. Is this better then anything the U.S. has?!?

Plus it would be good for Israel to get a little closer to Canada in terms of military relations. We have stuff to learn from you, and you have stuff to learn from us. woot I am not trying to be a smart a** and I apologise if I sound rude but I have no way of expressing this so I will just say it.

What does Israel have to learn from Canada?!? I mean the only area I could see it really benefiting is in the alpine warfare.. Is Israel getting training form the Canadians in this area?!?

Shalom.:D

Actually the american platforms are canadian made. The Stryker is made in Canada and so are the Marines LAVs. Well Israel could benefit from using some of our bases for training.
