What can i say i think im the only albanian in this forum who actualy was in the war of 1999 and lost relatives. I hope one day i will write a book about my experince, just thinking of it now it chills my body. Im going to write in breif my experince in kosovo war.

March 1999, Pristina. It started like any other day sunny but it was chilling, the talks in France have failed albanians signed the document serbs didnt,
The international observers began to withdraw, and every body was scrambling to the shops and bakeries because we knew the nato was about to begin bombing campaign. Well that evening as we were watching BBC world, i remember the words of the anchor man vividly saying ladies and gantle man the bombing against serbian military targets has began, in that very moment the electricity went off the sirens went on, damn those things are annoying. Man of course i was afraid but at the same time i felt joy, that somebody actualy cared about us. Sitting in the basement listening in total darkness and u couldnt here a damn thing moving, not even dogs barking. Well we stayed in the basement truying to sleep but who could nothing was happening three hours past nothing suddenly damn huge explosion hit the post office, waw the hole ground shook like earthquake, oh my god i never felt such a strong force. I started runing toward the third floor trying to figure out what was happening as i approached the window a second bomb hit the Pristina corps HQ, holy **** i remeber seeing a huge explosiong house shook....................Well 10 days pasted elictricity came only during the day night it went off, same as the water. There was nothing to do except watch history unfold before u're very own eyes, sniper activities were reported every where so u couldnt go out this **** was starting to become like the seige of Sarejevo. Then the very next moring when i woke displaced ppl every where, i remeber we took about 70 people in our house there was no place to even sit. That day all i did was helped my parents prepare food for refugees. After we fed the people in our house, there was still refugees in the street no where to go the facilities were filled with ppl. They were hungry, my friends i started to hand out bread and milk for the children, there were just to many. Well we stayed all night baking and handed out to the ppl that were out. Around 5am i droped dead i was exousted slept around an hour then my dad woke me up truying to raise my spirt, well it worked we did help till around 9am that's when creamy blue uniform armed with m80's. Came in with apc started shooting in the air screaming in top of there lungs u wanted nato!!!!!! u wanted america!!!!!!!!!!!! well u got them and now all of u are going to albania. **** i was in the middle of the road cought wide open with bread in my hands well as these PJP and paramilitary guys started taking peoples money i rember there around 8 to 12 of these guys military uniforms armed with mp5 in their vests written police and i think they were actualy JSO one of them approached me i still had the food in my hands, he spoke in broken albanian said those people over their they seem, need for food. Holy **** i couldnt belive it the guy didnt shot me. Watching caios in both side of the road the paramilitary guys raping young teens, damn i thought to my self well this is i stared to pray, then suddenly some one grabed me behind my neck, i felt the havy hand i turned it was same soldier or policemen he said u seem to run of stuff go get some more, damn i was 5kms away from my house, i couldnt belive i was never going to make it the guy asked me where i lived i told him gave him my id, u live pretty far from here u're never giong to make it u need some assurence, the guy took me in a military jeep and offered me a ride to home i couldnt refuse it the guy probly saved my life but at the same time i was worried that i would desapeare like many other ppl. So i was like **** it what are my chances of getting home 0. So the guy drove me home gave me a chocolat bar i was only 12 then, and told me ive done good and he said u better stay inside, its not safe. Well the next morning the ethnic cleansing of my neighbour hood began, they started to shoot the same seen as before, they spoke from the tank with loud speakers, we had only 5mins to get out of the house, when that time is up if we find anybody still in the houses, we r going to kill u. So we walked toward the train station it was about 13kms away from my house when we got there these bearded man started shooting instead of the air they actualy shot in the crowd ppl all around me started to fell then damn this i saw my brother fall
his brains all over the road :( . He was only 5yrs old). We ran in open scene thousends of us we went to my dads budys house. they trayed to clean us up, feed us, who could eat, i couldnt get the image of my brother out of the head. We stayed their around 13days the food was bad we were always hungry, It was longer safer staying there we walked again toward the train station waw we arrived there around 9am waited about 5hours then the train came. That was the last train that left kosovo. We arrived with the border of macedonia waited their around another 3good hours. And i heard police saying leave only 6 wagons of the train go the rest got to go back i was on the 7th wagon, **** it when i heard that i said i want them to shoot me i got nothing to live for... We waited around another good hour then they let us go as we were walking they told us to walk inside track station there where 20,0000 i thought they were just fooling around but as we were walking land mines everywhere ****. We stayed one night in no mans land. Slept on the ground it was raining cold march night, then from there to macedonia into camps, before we boarded into the buses they told to leave are bags behind we dont need them because the red cross has everything in the camps with food and tents. Well we arrived there thats was lol a myth we stayed in the open with out food or shelter for 3 days. Then from there German soldiers (god bless them) took made shelter and brought food stayed their for 3weeks it seemed so long before we arrive in Canada woot. I hope by this u understand the hate toward the serbs we feel in general, but i made peace with that it will take till old wounds heal.

To be honest i was kinda off pissed off with march riots, because there is no reason for us albanians to kill civilians like they did.

What a sad story. It is hard to imagine that sort of thing occurring in modern times. :(

I hope that you can find peace and prosperity for yourself here in Canada.

I don't know for Serbia, but the situation doesn't look fine for the Serbs living in the Kosovo province.

Civilians are always the victims in such situations... you think the Serb civilians that stayed behind are animals and criminals? From what friends have told me the Albanian reprisals against those that remained behind were no worse than beatings and executions that took place after NATO started bombing. The KLA targeted nightclubs and many other civilian targets and they did so expressly to get the Serb army to act the way they did.. who is the real bad guy then?
