Interesting info. Good to see that the Zulu wars are also documented and on the 'Net.
IMO King Shaka deserves to be mentioned much more often in military strategy discussions such as this one -- it was he who broke away from the old way of fighting (standing on a hill and throwing spears) and introduced the new way of "close quarters battle" using the "cattle horn" pattern: partially encircling the enemy and closing in from both sides.
Really unconventional, really effective.

good post...Shaka (or Chaka) was quite astute if all i have read about him was/is true.
I wonder what could have happened if the Zulus had been able to destroy the outpost at Rorke's Drift.
