ok im just wondering y is it the marines died from enemy fire and there have been no reports of any others ?? were the marines sent in on more dangerious missions or something??

I'm not sure how the second Marine was killed, but in the first incident, a Marine infantry platoon was assaulting an oil pumping station near the coast and it looks like the platoon leader who was leading the charge took a round.
The Marines seem to be the forward most troops in all of this. This is one of the problems that popped up in Operation Anaconda also. When you don't fully flatten the place first with air power and artillery so that there's no enemy left, you're going to have them popping out and shooting at you as you drive in. Since we're so concerned about giving every chance for the Iraqi's to surrender, we're also opening ourselves up more for our ground troops being shot at.
The first U.S. soldier killed in ground combat was a member of the 1st Marine Expeditionary Force and was part of the ground assault in southern Iraq when he was shot, said Lt. Col. Neal Peckham, a British military spokesman in Kuwait.
According to a comrade, the Marine was shot in the stomach while his company was sweeping around a burning oil pumping station. His identity was withheld so his family could be notified.
The second Marine was also part of the 1st Marine Expeditionary Force. He died Friday afternoon while fighting Iraqi forces near the port of Umm Qasr, according to the U.S. Central Command in Doha, Qatar.

Thats thier MOP gear genius.Its designed to defeat chemical and biological weapons from harming the soldiers.Its doesnt matter what color it is as long as it does its job.

I have to say to you guys, 2 casualties in combat is NOT bad at all, especially when it comes down to MOUT.

I was wondering how could he be wounded in the stomach if he, and should have been issued sapi plates for his otv? I really hope there isn't a shortage because I remember a report of a shortage in Afganastan! Any takers about this?:cantbeli:
that's a good point.. what happened to his kevlar/body armour? Maybe he got hit in the side and it went through the kevlar.

Could've had his ballistic plates out (unwise decision)...those NBC suits are heavy enough as it is...
Our Marines are on the front lines and they are in a high danger environment so we shouldnt expect that just because there is many surrenduring that some wont fight. It is clear that the Marines are engaged in the fight more so than the Army at this point because they are moving along the open desert pretty much unopposed. The Marines are the spearhead moving through the cities and positioning our forces strategically around Baghdad and future targets. The Royal Marines are also assissting in the fighting and many Iraqis have surrendured to them as well. I'd agree that so far 2 enemy fire casualties is extremely good and we will all understand when enemy body counts start rolling in not to mention the thousands that have surrendured so far. I dont think that it will be too long before we have Baghdad entirely surrounded. I hope and pray we dont have any other casualties from our boys and our allies.

Please save the forums... stop posting. You are obviously an IGNORANT IDIOT. Why is it the Marines died? Because they went someplace you will never be brave enough to go, into an area filled with people who want them dead. They did this so that IGNORANT IDIOTS like you can enjoy the freedom that allows you to sit back and watch it all on CNN. Show some respect.
We are very lucky that there have not been other casualties. This is a WAR and unfortunately, good people die in wars. Don't sit there asking why there aren't more, unless for some healthy reason you want to see our boys' bodies coming home lifeless. If that is the case, you are sick and need help.
As to how dangerous their tasks were, I suggest you turn on CNN, MSNBC, or FNC and listen for a few seconds. If your IQ is over 80, there is a good chance you will realize that the USMC 1st MEU have been taking down oil stations and towns. MOUT is an inherently dangerous environment.

As others have pointed out, you are again showing that you are an IGRNORANT IDIOT. The image you linked to shows Marines in their MOPP gear. This is not intended as camouflage, but to protect them from chemical weapons. This also has nothing to do with "running out of the good stuff". The USMC as well as the other branches are WELL equipped for their environment.
Since we don't have any images of the gear used in the raids, I will only spend a short bit of time explaining to you how meaningless your suggestion is. MOUT is a fast paced environment in which camouflage has little effect. Add to that the fact that these raids took place AT NIGHT, where the darker OD color, used as the main tone for woodland, is actually preferable.
So SHUT YOUR TRAP YOU IGNORANT IDIOT. There are few things I REALLY can't stand. One of the greatest is when some idiot with minimal knowledge and understanding tries to armchair quarterback the deaths of some of the bravest, strongest, and best warriors in the world.
God Bless those soldiers for paying the ultimate price, and bless their brothers and sisters who will continue to fight the war to provide Iraq and the world with the God given right to Freedom.

Correction Cut,they were injured.I think they were with the 1st Brigade,3rd ID.Came into enemy contact and they RPG'd two hummers with 2 people inside each.They thought they were dead but Pentagon said they are wounded;not dead.

Marines have died, my Marines, my fellow Brothers. I may not be in anymore but these are my Brothers. A Lt. leading from the front reinforced why Officers and NCOs wear a blood strip. Do not use the death of honorable Men to play out your B.S. about who is going to join, who has joined, and who has shot a gun. If you got a point to prove then pony your butt up to the nearest recruiter and sign the dotted line. Actions speak louder then words!!!! Every hour that I watch the events unfold I think about 7th Marine Regiment humpin' through the desert of Iraq while I and the rest of America climb into a warm bed at night. Back off on this crap and honor these Men that have paid the ultimate sacrifice for their friends. Cause in the end it's not for Flag or apple pie, it's for that Devil Dog or Soldier next to you.

unfortunately good people die, innocent people die, little children die, we have brains can't we use them to find a better way? my prayers go out to my brother who is an airman in the gulf, and prayers to all our soldiers who are barely old enough to vote, we want you home safely.
im 14 i cantr sign up and besides i have nothing but respect for marines of all kinds and any armed forces of the allied nations its so sad that trhose troops were takin prisioner those ****ing iraqies i like some of them but the people who fight can suck a camals **** those ****ing ass raping **** eaters
