I had a co-worker who was in the British Army. He told me that in training for riot control, they sometimes would actually use real firebombs. In riot formation there would be other troops behind the line with fire extinguishers. If you got hit with a firebomb, they would run up and put you out. He said the use of "live fire" in training really paid off during demonstrations in Northern Ireland.

I hope these soldiers were okay. These pics serve as a powerful reminder of the horrible realities of war.

correct, synthetic burned on the skin causes severe damages which are very difficult to cure.
as I remember it mixes with skin while burning .....

Nomex, like on gloves or flight suits is made to protect against flash fires...not continuous exposure to flame.
