I just watched this cartoon at al-Jazeera's arabic website. I really don't know what to think about that, other than by the end I am somewhat repulsed and disturbed.

http://www.aljazeera.net/NR/exeres/1BB4B117-F561-40A7-B419-7F2977E2A45B.htm

At the beginning the woman (I think it's Golda Meir) wrote "there is no such thing as Palestine and there never has been." Then it shows the Israeli prime ministers starting with Yitzhak Rabin, then Shimon Pires, Netanyahu, Yehud Barak, and finally Airel Sharon. The final caption says "Yassir Arafat 1929-2004."

So, what did you all think? Please keep in mind that this isn't meant to be a flame, just a look at what others think and how they see themselves and their leaders.

I for one find the Al Jazeera cartoons to be amusing, but then I find most political cartoons to be amusing no regards to their slant.

It's no big deal. It just reflects the Arab view that israel hasn't stepped up to the plate enough to compromise. The Israelis have that view of Arafat. They could not therefore come to an agreement. This is why there is a dispute. Perfectly normal and timelessly tragic.

It's all in Arabic, I can't read the flash movie.

It's alright except for the fact that the part where he's next to the gunner needs to be put in more often.

Here is the english version, though I still find it hard to figure out, how exactly it all has to be understood. That goes for Al-Jazeera cartoons in general. But I agree that the cartoons are quite interesting and gives some perspectives you don't find in western cartoons.

I think there's nothing wrong with it it's not as slanted as cox and forkum (rather suprisingly)

I translated everything that they said in my first post. Nothing was really relevant besides the very first scene.

It was quite funny to watch. Especially Ariel Sharon pointing to the landmines when Arafat tries to shake hands.

That was actually Yehud Barak, Sharon was the one in the bulldozer.

cox and forkum is a editorial and cartoon .

Al **** is (supposed) to be a reliable and professional news outlet.

*shrugs* Nothing unexpected. I've seen much more misleading cartoons. Anyone relying on Al-Jazeera for impartiality can be mocked upon with my permission.

The Bibi scene was amusing though. Not as much as their production values though (check the sound effects).

Waaww, this is EUA High tech flash animation, lol, no wonder....

In anyway, beside being misleading, one could notice the similarity of "version" between this rag tv and lets say, the Times, or Le Monde.

Biased as usual, but like with the X files, truth is beyond.

Doesn't do enough to capture the affect of Arafat's special razor blades; the ones that permanentlt leave 3 day's growth.

Bibi doesn't wear a kippa (skullcap), except when dealing with coalition weenies, and Arik isn't a drinker, hence the red nose is offensive.

oh yeah.. how predictable.

There is no comparision between fox and al****.

There are some cartoons fox would NEVER be able to show on their programs because they border or racist.

Fox also doesnt call suicide bombers martyrs either.
