Are you trying to say that he is an airsofter or are you saying that you own that gun as an airsoft?
I want to say that the picture airsofter with unreal g36. If I'm not mistaken, there should be spread photographs of real soldiers.

All I was trying to say, I said. This photo is not a real soldier and not a real grenade. Facts provided. Please provide a link to the photo on the official website of the Bundeswehr.
That picture dates back a bit, I cannot be arsed to take the trouble. Besides, this is a thread for pictures and not time-costly discussions of doubtful purpose.

It's highly likely a 40mm training round!!!:bash::-*$
I doubt that Airsofters/reenactors have access to the AG36.
But besides that, most Afghanistan pictures aren't even on the Bundeswehr webside.
So there is no evidence that this isn't a real soldier.

- airsoft version of AG36 with a handguard pin on a RS G36?
- an airsoft mag taped to another one(even if the second is RS)?
- the absence of a side rail/aiming device (what I have NEVER met on a RS BW AG36)?
Don`t all these facts convince you of the airsoft nature of this photo?
Who told you that this pic is taken/publisched/displays the German Navy?

- Huh? Where is the Handguard pin? As far as I'm concerned the real AG36 has a space where the pin went on the normal handguard.
- Maybe for training purposes? Just to learn to cope with the bulk?

I also noticed, that the carry handle isn´t the one you usally see on these G36ks,it is rather a carry handle of a G36c without iron sights.

Swob, that CH is pretty common in naval units.
(btw, we know us, SAB)
It is not the "Aluminium Kurzvisierschiene" which is usually on the G36kA1.
Compare these two on top this page and you´ll see the difference ;)

I very much doubt, that BW soldiers in A-stan who are issued an G36KA2+AG36 have not enough number of G36 mags to train with, so that they have to take airsoft G36 mags wit them to their deployment. rofl

Right. There is a change of angle in the sidesurface of the AG36. The handguardpin is located beneath the surface without the vent holes. You know, the complete vertical surface. Thus we are not able to see that pin in this pic.
And, btw, I dont even think that pic actually was shot in AStan. It has been quite a time since it was released by the BW and therefore I for one cant find a original source of it now.
As for the AG36 without rail, no pics on that but my personal experience. That was, however with a unit not deployed.
The airsoft mag confuses me too, though. My guess would be that this pic is either from a training in Germany, since I can remember a photo set which came out from a "Manöver" with all the fancy new weapons and stuff, or a Navy training around the horn of africa. The first option would explain the lack of the IdZ ballistic vest.

No, you`re wrong again.
The standard AG36 handguard has got NO upper handguard pin, which is present ONLY in the G36, G36K, G36C handguards.

I first thought it was a real G36, but I can now say that this is airsoft.
See this pictures of an Classic Army G36:
With two airsoft mags:
http://lee.plankton.ch/AS_G36_ASMAG.jpg
With one airsoftmag and one realsteel mag with deko bullets:
http://lee.plankton.ch/AS_G36_RSMAG.jpg
Take a closer look at the height of both mags.
You can also see that "L" shaped corner on the airsoft mag, it's the same on the discussed picture.
Airsoft for a 100%, but a cool photo nevertheless!

Pretty sure it's a camera, so it should be a soldier from the Einsatzkameratrupp, which only would make sense since they originally were there to build a bridge...
It's a camera. These guys belong to the Einsatzkamera Trupp, a speciality comparable to mass communication specialists.
I'd say they were rather there to make a documentary on the bridge rebuilding though.

Phoenix just aired some additional footage of that engagement. Seems most of the Dingos already have the new FLW100. Good news I say.
The firefight lasted for the whole day but because of the enemy activities the engineers couldn't finish the bridge. Today they will try again...
Godspeed.

It would be great to see the .50 BMG on our vehicles. The infantry is requesting it for a while now. Until now, only the KSK was using it on their Servals.

i think the Spürfuchs - German Fox NBC variant in Afghanistan is one colored. But i could only find models of it via google
/edit
actually it also could be a US Fox - they used some in Iraq in desert camo with M2s
- just imagine it without the cage etc

third option:
i think the Americans upgraded their foxes with remote controlled weapon stations - maybe we are testing their old M2 holders (?)

Yes, the US NBC Fox has other smoke dispensers (the standard US ones you'll find on M1s etc.) mounted.

Is there any chance of the flw200 getting mounted on the 1A8 Fuchs? I think that weaponstation has the ability of mounting the M3M, right?

If its not already fielded then its very close. As we can see the weapons are already in Astan and they wont be shipped there and mounted if there isn't the OK by the WTD testing agency.
Good news indeed. The weaponry for the Fuchs is getting more and more versatile.

AFAIK the BATs are using the Duro and the BV206 (Hagglunds). They stopped using the red cross, because they got shot at anyway and the cross is a perfect reference for aiming.

I saw statistics at the WHQ-forums a few months ago, and I think it was like that the BW bought around 25000 A2 upgrades for the G36, most of them collecting dust in some weaponary, and 4000 MG4.
So that leaves around 225000 soldiers with the A1.

Yeah, most units are still equipped with the old A1 version (especially basic training companies), but I thought that atleast in Afghanistan they were being replaced by now.

True to some extend. But for everyone who puts some thought into what he is adding to his issued gear, there are 5 posers who will pack gucci kit just for the high speed - low drag looks. We´ve even seen examples of soldiers, wearing cheap airsoft-crap right here in this thread. This guy´s pimped out G 3 however is übercool! p-)
Yea you're right, but the helmet still makes me wonder but that's maybe a private purchase or something
I´d bet that it is privately purchased. Along with the comtacs and his ballistic vest. If you could see that kind of gucci kit amongst some of the other members of the platoon I´d assume that it was issued - FschSpZg for example uses both such helmets and peltor comtacs. But since he´s the only one, I´m inclined to assume he is a hardcore-geardo. ;)
Plus: Whenever I´ve seen pictures of soldiers mit comtacs, they always used them together with their radios - he´s just wearing them for the sake of active hearing protection. Haven´t seen that before, apart from the shooting range at home.

I would say so. The LUCIE helmet mount consists of two hooks with a rubber strap. That thing fits on every helmet I guess.
Btw. I know many guys using airsoft plate carriers over there and some of them went to Kunduz more than once and that "crap" worked perfectly fine and way better than the IdZ vest.

Mechanized infantry with mostly Eagles? Where are the Marders?
Mongolia to be part of the NATO? What pills did the narrator take?
1. Feyzabad is "quiet" (compared to Kunduz that is) so no Marders there
2. Mongolia is not NATO but has had "Colour" revolution in 2005 so they now pretty much do what Georgia etc does, pretending to be in NATO and pissing off its neighbours by being so utterly US friendly that it embarasses even americans;).
Only Mongolia manages to piss off two great powers (Russia and China) instead of only one like Georgia...
They had recent protests as well, but thanks to use of deadly force "democracy" prevailed.

Nice video, shows what´s going on in Kunduz. Like a member of my company said, those infantry guys manning the hills really, really deserve their 110 Euros per day...
Btw, from what I heard is Uli Gack relatively popular among the soldiers. I must say I like his way of reporting, he´s with the soldiers. I´d really love to see a report like Ross Kemp´s Afhganistan docu where he was embeded with the soldiers.

Yeah...but the guy sorting out the letters in the camp for 4 months also gets 110 Euro extra per day.

Kind of OT, but I've just, for the very first time in my Life, seen an inflight CH53 passing low over my head.
Now, I've had that before with Hueys, Alouettes, EC135s and a Puma, but that the green giant is THAT massive...just wow.
Incredible awesome noise by the 6 rotorblades, too...
Damn. How high do you have to be to attack such a thing with an RPG? Speaking of the 3 mounted MGs!

Same here, yesterday one flew over my bloc, it was really impressive.
Too bad we have too few of them for Afghanistan...

Do not overestimate the "shock & awe" (lol!) factor of these things. In the eighties, Mi-8 were shot down in numbers in Afhganistan, even before Stingers were around, though mostly with mg fire rather than RPGs. The mgs on a CH-53 are for laying down suppressive fire, but a CH still makes for a fat target, especially when landing outside of large bases.
Now, on the other hand, shooting at an Apache or another thoroughbred gunship, that's what I'd call crazy...

See them several times a month because a area for low altitude flights is 300m away from my window. And the sounds sucks saturday morning.

Hej! Very nice pics of the Marder and from the WHQ guy!
Yep the CH53 is quite big as it can haul two Wiesels around..but I honestly don't know why they don't deploy more of them??? It's a mistery to me..I suspect "drückebergerei" and pretending to have some technical problems blablablub...the Bundeswehr is to bureaucratized "dienst nach vorschrift" etc. then all those civilans working there..everything is so slow.. :( I know it from personal experience....I would also order some Cougars as a stopgap solution from EC and let them pay for them or get them at a discount price! They have powerfull engines and have a service ceiling of over 7000m, that should be enough for Stan. They could be used for medevac infiltration and transport duties...later on you could still keep them as a CSAR platform.
Cheers

Yeah that's what I've been asking myself as well. Why not buy some Pumas or Cougars?
They're good helicopters used by many other armed forces, they're available, spare parts should be easy to get.
Oh well...

The french are using their Pumas in the Stan quite successfully afaik.
Why we do not buy them over the other choices? My guess is Lobby.
If we buy Pumas or Cougars, lobbyists are afraid that the NH90 might be shelved alltogether.
Ok, there's a bit of justification in this:
The last short term "interim solution" of the Luftwaffe was the F-4F Phantom :D
On the other hand, we need helicopters now and not in 10 years.
The old conflict between arms procurement as a means to secure jobs and secure the defense industry versus procuring equipment the troops actually need.

Ja...of course it's the damn lobby. The Eagle IV is a good example for that as well. In the end we only got it because KMW didn't come up early enough with an own comparable vehicle.
Or the Puma; I'd say buy the CV90! But that's just my humble opinion.

Unfortunately we can't deploy any Pumas at the moment, because the Bundeswehr doesn't fly this helicopter. Even if we would procure some today, we would need to train pilots and mechanics for years until they are officially "combat ready". Unless we want to stay in Afghanistan till 2025 the Pumas wouldn't be available for ISAF anyway. :)
Concerning the NH90: Well, honestly I'm so sick and tired of EADS by now that I would rather see American Blackhawks for our Bundeswehr than waiting another couple of years for a downgraded and overprized version of a helicopter which comes in far too less numbers.
The A400M should have taught us a lesson, but hey, since we want to be independent from foreign weapon-systems , I guess that's the prize to pay.
PS: All polemics are wanted and used for entertaining purpose only p-)
