Just a sister thread to the Fav bands...

Name a few concerts that you have been to and whether it was good or not...

1. Alabama (Farewell Tour this summer) - They played everything...Farewell Tour in Nashville, doesn't get any better.

2. Dave Matthews Band - Always fun to go to, I've gone two years in a row...Good music, hot girls, good time.

3. Lynyrd Skynyrd (30th Anniversary) - I saw what's left of the group in Nashville. They played great, an almost 30-minute version of Free Bird!!! Can't beat Tuesday's Gone, Simple Man, Sweet Home Alabama, and Free Bird live.

4. 50 Cent featuring Snoop Dogg, Chingy, Fabolous, Bonde Crusher, Busta Rhymes, T.I., and I probably left a couple out - I know...You're probably thinking, "Wait a second, this doesn't fit in with the other concerts." But yeah, I went to this one...I was the DD (free ticket) and I was actually surprised at how well they played.

5. Matchbox Twenty/Sugar Ray - It was good...not many people at all...I had an okay time.

Warped Tour was pretty cool out at VA Beach this summer.

So was the Beach Boys concert at Jones Beach, LI when I graduated kindergarden way back when.

Metallica's free, afternoon concert outside the Spectrum in 97, I was in college and ditched class with a couple of buddies to go. Hetfield comes out for the encore in a Flyers jersey and the whole crowd, 75,000 people in a parking lot chanting 'Let's Go Flyers'. Best concert I've ever been to, bar none. You can't top that many people chanting 'Die, Die, Die' during Creeping Death.

HONORARY MENTION:
Linkin Park put on a pretty good live show at the FUC about a year ago.

Saw Aerosmith and Kid Rock, Aerosmith blew Kid Rock out of the water. Those old bastards still got it.

Had the chance to see Train just a couple weeks ago playing a local club date. Really, really good live band, they do some great covers, sound just like the originals. Best club show I've seen.

Worked security for a rap show about three years ago, and I'll give it to him, DMX does a great live show. To bad he got locked up a few nights later for sodomy.

I heard rumors about it before the concert. Umm...Hehe, Snoop smoked a couple joints on stage during the show. That was quite funny. But I wouldn't be surprised, it was wild.

i only went to one concert in my life, and I hated it.

there is a band that is full of people who smoke marijuana for a living, and they put out ****ty music at the same time.

you might have heard of them.

Believe it or not when I was about eighteen or so, I took my dad to a concert at the Valley Force Music Center for his birthday, I can't remember if it was Alabama or Kenny Rogers, but it was something along those lines. Well Dave Matthews was the opening act. Point is, they sucked back then too.

Saw Van Halen in Portland Maine right after the first album came out. Dave still had hair.

Saw the J Geils Band play in Ft Lauderdale Florida in 1982. They were good. The opening act was Irish and I kept thinking, man these guys are too good to open for anyone. Their name was U2. Heh.

I hung out and drank beer with Greg Allman on Braedenton Beach on my 18th birthday. That was kinda cool.

Went to a James Taylor concert with about 14 girls from the girls summer camp I was working at. I was 16. I got laid. Best concert ever. :D

1. Prince and the NPG. 1997. 2 solid hours of pure entertainment. The man knows how to perform.

2. George Clinton and the P-Funk All-Stars. 1998. I can't remember much, but I remember having an amazing time and meeting a lot of really cool people.

3. The Connells. 1996, I believe. I just remember them playing way more than I thought they would, and even inviting the opening band (Tonic) up on stage at the end for an impromptu jam session. Very cool. I love this band.

I'm jealous. :(

The best concert I ever went to was Journey. It was raining, cold, we had bad seats, and we didn't get to see the whole thing. But we could still hear them, and they played When the Lights Go Down in the City before we left, so I was happy. it was great.

Best concert I ever went to was Slayer!! back in mid '02 I had an opportunity to catch them playing with In Flames (which put on an awesome act), and Soulfly (which I fought my way out of the pit to avoid seeing atleast). Another great show was in '03 when Vader played with a few bands. I didn't care much for the other acts, it was worth being right at the stage for VADER AHH!

let's say my funniest concert.

http://www.studiolo.org/Rafe/Portfolio/portfolio16.jpg

U.S. BOMBS in 98

It was a private gig. They toured in germany and had three concerts around a close area here. At a day off they had a little secret show at the rehearsal room of a local punk band. A friend of mine played there. So he asked me to come. Just 25 people and ALOT of booze. Time to talk with those guys. They are so wasted...

"Best" from a nostalgia standpoint would be seeing The Police (Synchronicity Tour).

"Best" from a "had one heck of a great time" would be The Tannahill Weavers for the first time a few years back at the Cincinnati Celtic Festival.

"Best" from a "holy smokes that music is freakin' amazing" standpoint would be seeing Llan de Cubel at last year's Cincy Celtic Fest.

Many to choose from...but I gotta say Ozzfest '99. The bands on the bill included:

original Black Sabbath line up- it was hyped as their farewell tour :)

Rob Zombie- put on an amazing show...Explosions and dancing chicks, plus the guitarist was drinking a blood-like concoction from his hollowed out, neon guitar.

Slayer- not bad, not that good either. I don't know why these guys are so popular.

Deftones- Not really memorable except that the chicks seemed to dig this band. I was close to the pit, and when the girls are happy that makes me happy p-) .

Primus- nothing special except by this time I started to get a raging headache from all of the weed smoke in the air.

System of a Down- Totally blew my mind. They had just come out with their CD and weren't too popular yet. They whipped the crowd into a frenzy...the energy during their show was incredible. Also funny cause the guitarist had just had knee surgery and was in a wheelchair. Ozzy's son Jack (who was only a little kid at the time) pushed him around stage throughout their show.

Godsmack- They played a good set. They were starting to get big cause their first CD had just come out. Who knew that they would shoot themselves in the foot and not make any good music afterwards?

Static-X- the whole time I was like "OMG look at that guy's hair!"

Slipknot- I don't care for their music, but during their set one guy was pounding his head on a snare drum and cut his forehead open. Blood spurted out everywhere and they had to rush him off stage. I've heard him mention that in interviews so it's kinda cool to say "I was there!" They also attracted a large crowd of neo-nazis, who quickly dominated the mosh pit...I got hit in the face and stepped on by a few of them...I took off to the main stage after that.

Drain STH- a band from Sweden made up entirely of hot chicks, they broke up after one of them married Tony Iommi from Black Sabbath. I felt kinda bad for them cause during their show drunks were yelling "show us your ****!" the whole time. They came into the crowd later and I got a bunch of autographs...very cool of them.
