Stone Escapes America for France

Director Oliver Stone is so distraught over the criticism targeted at his last two big screen projects, he's preparing to flee America for France. The JFK movie-maker sparked controversy by meeting Cuban dictator Fidel Castro for his 2003 documentary Comandante - forcing TV network HBO to axe it from their schedule. Stone's recent historical epic, Alexander, was also subjected to scathing reviews in the US for portraying Macedonian warrior Alexander The Great as a bi******. And Stone can't understand why years of hard work have failed to produce a positive reaction, so is desperate to seek comfort in his mother's homeland, to escape the bad vibes that are crippling his confidence in America. He says, "Since the Castro movie I did, things have been tough. Everyone was against it. Then I put my heart into Alexander, which wasn't appreciated either. The right thing is for me to stay out of America for a while. I'm planning to spend a lot more time in France."

Stone is a very good director he has made some really good films, I like Platoon, Born on the forth of july, JFK, nixion etc. It's just he is being such a cry baby he has a few ****ty films and some bad reviews and now it's like this whole "New world Order" conspiracy against this half frenchay bastard. He should get over it and make some good flims.

Yeah he needs to lighten up. He's directed some great films; Platoon is definately one of my favourite movies, and I finally watched Born on the Fourth of July last night and it was excellent. But he seems like he cant take the criticism lately, hope he gets his head together

I think Platoon is one of the top war movies ever. I liked Wall street, The Doors, and Born on fourth of July. Natural born killers was kind of odd. I've started out watching JFK but I have never managed to stay interested enough to watch to the end. Haven't seen Alexander yet so I can't give a verdict on that one. But seriously, it seems he's over-reacting...

I actually really enjoyed his documentary/series of interviews with Fidel Castro.

Platoon was good, but imo natural born killers was more of a wannabe-oddball movie

Apparently they're coming at him from all sides:

"...The bond between men can be suggested in different ways (http://www.newkerala.com/news-daily/news/features.php?action=fullnews&id=57174). From day one, audiences didn't show up. They didn't even read the reviews in the South because the media was using the words, 'Alex the gay.'

The gays lambasted me for not making Alexander openly homo******, and, in the Bible Belt pastors were up in the pulpit saying that to watch this film was to be tempted by Satan..."

I think he wrote it too. It was based on his experiances as a soldier in vietnam. Here is some information on Oliver Stone:

I’ve never been, but no doubt it’s a nice place. I just can’t stand the language, can’t stand to hear it and can’t stand to be around it.

As for the Rainbow Warrior comment Gatling I’m not a peace-loving hippie so I couldn’t care less. To be honest I’m glad that pathetic boats gone.

He's self absorbed like every other Hollywood primadonna.

Yes Alexander was controversial. But it was the fact that it sucked that it tanked, not because of bias against him.

Yeah, the casting, the music and pretty much everything in it was terrible. Besides that I think it's cheap to portray Alexander as bi****** just to get publicity.

An indication of how bad Alexander was, was that despite the fact that it had Colin Farrel (appeals to the female audience), Angelina Jolie (appeals to the male audience), and Antony Hopkins (appeals to the mature audience), it still couldn't take off. What a waste of a gathering of fine actors.

well his move to france is partially because his work will be more appreciated there as they are into deeper more independant movies, also his political views will probably be more accepted there, but for him thinking we hate him  ive liked his past movies but honestly he should open his eyes and see that alexander was sub par, and so was "the real king arthur movie" and troy was so-so from other directors. nothing against him, its not like the others in similar genres were massive succeses either. maybe hes kinda stuck in his own time with the acclaim he used to get and cant understand why he doesnt get it now.

i dont know why Commandant was banned in the US....there was nothing really contreversial about it. I've seen it twice....they'll probaly show it again here too.

honestly, its a good documentry.....everyone should see it
