from what I remember he said he was EOD, maybe reserve or something im not positive but he was using all his "issued gear" but instead of a MOLLE vest he had a SOE LBV and claimed it replaced MOLLE vests in there unit since the "Molle vest pouche would come loose" (so he says) "when they low crawled"..i'm not sure to believe him or not

As you can see its barely ICS anymore. First thing I noticed was the TM handgrips were wobbly, with a lil electrical tape I managed to fix that. Firing it for the first time was quite an experince, it has quite the unique sound. Shes a screamer apparently ;)

The ICS highcap fix snug into the mag well, were as the Star ones are loose and wobbly. Shooting the gun in semi-auto with the Star magazines it had a tendency to not feed the bb, while full auto worked fine. I've put a strip of electrical tape along the top of one Star mag, and in the morning will go take a couple shots to see if fixed it. By putting the mag in place thats taped it feels alot more secure, and wobbles less, but the downside it takes more effort to remove the magazine.
Win some and loose some I guess, but its still better then shelling out $100's of dollars more just on magazines for it.

I preferred to use this real KAC M5 RIS than the replicas since I had a bad experience with my TM SR-16 during my first airsoft game 3 years ago. From then on, as far as replica KAC RIS is concerned I was only going to get the real one. This RIS had been passed around 4 owners before it landed in my hands. Some parts had been badly trimmed to fit a Kokusai M16, and its top metal clamp, that locks unto the barrel nut is already missing. I also had to buy a $4 USD real triangular handguard cap to fit this RIS. I'm using a G&P delta ring/ barrel nut set, so the RIS can properly be installed just like on the real M16. Also, to my surpise, the M5 RIS has no Knights Armament Company markings of whatsoever. The only thing that tells me it is the real deal is that the rails are sharp just like on my real KAC RAS II.

*also, the height of the rails of the M4 body lines up with the RIS.

To get the worn look, you will need about 30 mins to write over your gun with a silver Sharpie marker. Man, I love that Sharpie! The cheapest mod you can get!

Just covered most of the gun with a newspaper and sprayed the uncovered surface. And I would just rotate the newspaper. Simple, but effective.

I just use Krylon's Military Camo Paint, Usually a 3 Color scheme. I start with a dark brown, Spray entire rifle with that color, then I put stencils down, usually natural brush I find around the area, and let those act as the borders of the colors, it takes time, but I think it looks really nice.

Just for looks (and thanks! :-D ).
The AR15 is about as realistic as I can make it, from the way it looks, feels, materials it's made out of and weight. Only way to tell it's airsoft is to look down the barrel and see the airsoft tube or to try the charging handle/open the bolt flap (no forward assist on early model AR15s). Still got some work to do on the M16A3...

I bought the G&P handguard+outer barrel and the G&P carry handle.
I have one problem with the outer barrel now... there is a little screw that you have to use for fixing the barrel. Well... i kinda ****ed the screw up so it ain't coming loose, and it won't hold the barrel. So now i ducktaped the whole thing together and I will see how it works tomorow during a game.

I decided to cut up a half of my foregrips. Result looks very nice, I remember a Canadian soldier having a similar setup, ofcourse his handguard was cut up more cleanly. Going to apply some good ol' tape and maybe file the edges some more. Took me about 2 hours :cantbeli: p-) .

If it is, I hope you've replaced the internals with the TM rev 2 M16A2 bits... makes it work a little better. Again, nice choice - it's pretty rare to see those on the airsoft field, and they look pretty funky.

EDIT - I see from your post that the LA85 is only a springer... no worries p-) I'm sure you'll be hooked on AEGs soon enough...
