As I'm walking out of my class past the middle of campus, I notice the hippies are having some kind of anti-inaugeration celebration and some crappy punk band is up there playing ****ty music and preaching about politics they don't understand. I put my headphones back on and keep walking thinking to myself, "Damn the hippies are loud." I get to the bus stop and start chatting with a friend as we both wait for our bus to arrive.
As we are standing there an enourmous Ford pickup lifted about 3 feet off the ground on huge mud tires rolls around the corner. It's got vivid American flag decals plastered along the entire length of each side of the pickup, four american flags mounted in the bed of the pickup, and it's blaring some presidential music. Some old grey-haired guy wearing a Dr. Seuss style USA hat is driving, having a great time, and on the front back and sides of the pickup he had large paper sings that read, "4 MORE YEARS!"
Some people were clapping and a few cheered as he drove by, I was laughing too hard the entire time and wishing I had my camera on me to show my support.
UofO is such a trip....

awesome... if one good thing came out of the results of this years election, it was the look on the hippies faces as the results were announced...

At the merrit mountain music festival in BC, they had a lifted up pick up with a sticker on the windshield reading "Think Fast Hippy" and a maple leaf on the hood. It was wicked.

rightly so, i left my long standing career in the pimping business for the more profitable business of groceries... when 65% of Americans are obese, you know you have job security in grocery or resturanting...
my job sucks though, big time.

Sounds like something that would have happened on UGA's campus.
We had our fair share of dirty hippies, and it always amazed me how indignant they got when people reacted negatively to their "protests" (i.e. candlelight vigils and standing by the curb and screaming at cars and waving asinine signs). I mean, we're deep in the heart of the South, at one of the most conservative public schools in the nation--what do they expect? I've never seen a protest that was unified. It's just a bunch of jackasses standing around, torn between slamming Bush and calling for the legalization of pot. Then, they hop in their Volkswagons, go home, and pat themselves on the back for "really sticking it to the man." Then they call home to ask their parents for more money.

Just went to dinner with a bunch of ROTC cadets. Every thursday contracted cadets wear BDUs to all their classes, just to make their presence known on campus. Turns out one of them got hit in the head with a rock as he walked past the hippy-fest thing.

I must be getting old.
Back in my day, when I got my undergrad 12 years ago we worried about important things like playing rugby and drinking beer....nobody protested, we were all too busy trying to see what happens when you get the shy girls drunk.
You kids are weird.....less yapping and more beer bongs....that'll fix it

I didn't say I was a part of it. Hell, 99% of the kids on campus (myself included) were too preoccupied with doing keg stands and judging wet t-shirt contests. We didn't earn a spot in the Nation's Top 10 Party Schools for nothing.

Excellent...the only thing Uni students should ever protest is supply shortages of fake IDs and condoms

Word.^
People might take the hippie's messages seriously if they acted seriously. if they cleaned up, put down the bong and got jobs.
