View Full Version : historicalconflicts.com Forum
Hello members of Militaryphotos.net!
My name is Daniel and I have just recently started a forum called Historical Conflicts. It's an international forum with discussions on...historical conflicts.
Anyways, as you all know, a new forum needs some interesting threads and posts to get started. So if you have nothing better to do at the moment you are welcome to help me out. I am also looking for moderators.
The address to the forum is www.historicalconflicts.com
I run another forum also called www.krigsforum.se and it has got about 550 members as this is written. But it is a swedish WWII forum so most of you guys probably won't understand a thing.
I'm sorry if this is concidered spam though. But I guess maybe it is? As an admin on my forums I have no problems with posts such as these as long as they are not repeated or bumped but maybe you have different opinions here. In that case I appologize and you may of course remove the post.
Best Regards
Daniel

He he, I am aware of that there already are a number of great WWII forums but you can't have a forum about conflicts without having a section dedicated the greatest conflict of all.
You should call that forum
FLAMEWARS.NET

can't register. i'll try again later.
I am constantly working on the forum as I just started it. The reason why you could not register now was because I installed the flag_mod. It should work fine now.

Why is that? As long as a forum is well moderated there should be no problems. Also, this forum is a non-political forum.
Quote from the forum rules
[§12] Politics and objectivity:
Historical Conflicts Forum is grounded in the idea that all of its articles need to be written from a neutral point of view. The neutral point of view attempts to present ideas and facts in such a fashion that both supporters and opponents can agree. Of course, total agreement is not possible; there are ideologues in the world who will not concede to any presentation other than a forceful statement of their own point of view. But HCF seeks a type of writing that is agreeable to essentially rational people who may differ on particular points.
In other words, keep the politics out of this forum!

Good Idea ;)
What did Clausewitz say...war being continuation of POLITICS by other means and all.
There is no way in beep keeping politics out of your forum. How do you approach WWII for instance, from a neutral angle? You don't.
It's the same here. People whine about the photo section: Keep the poltics out of here! Well, there isn't anything more political than pictures of conflicts.

Exactly, www.feldgrau.com is a non political forum as well as axishistoryforum and my own wwii forum www.krigsforum.se
Politics is only the opinions of your own while history is facts more or less. I believe you should not mix those togheter.

The tricky part is that history involves interpretations of the facts and that neccessarily incorporates opinions within any historical analysis. At least this is how i see things...

Nice forum.
Btw, does anybody know of a forum(s) where ancient warfare (upto 1st millenium) is discussed? (Nerd warning!)

Yes but there is a big difference in discussing politics from a historical point of view and discussing history as you personally see it because of your political beliefs and ideologies.
I personally know that there is no problem to keep history and politics separated since I run a fairly large history forum. I know when the line is passed because it becomes very obvious.
When you read a history book it is not a political book you're reading but a fact book. It would be political if it was let's say a history book released by a right wing party because then it would be coloured by their ideology. History should as far as possible always be kept on a neutral level.
Of course people can interpret things their own way but that necessarily doesnt mean it is expressed from a political point of view but only because of ignorance for example.
Like I said earlier, I need a companion who can help me start this project up and get it going. I'm looking for someone who is a bit older (at least over 25) and has some moderating experience (not necessary though). Also it is very important that you as a moderator can stay neutral all times.

Great site, alas i site where i can discuss with people without flamewars. Perhaps because the agelimit is thirteen so that some people here cant get in there :backhand:
Also a large majority of swedes which like to discuss things in a normal fashion!

Flamewars is the last thing I want to see on the forum. It won't be allowed under any circumstances. Hopefully the members will be able to discuss the topics in a mature and civilised way.
Like I said before, it is not a political forum.
