CNBC reported that two Americans described as "state department security officers" were killed on the Afghan/Pak border today with out any other information. State dept security is DSS (diplomatic security service) and they usually only are used as bodyguards for high ranking state dept or foreign diplomats, or as couriers for highly sensitive materials. So then the questions would be, what was DSS doing there, who were they protecting/ what were they transporting, and of all places for US dept of state to be, why would they have any type of presence on/in that mainly tribal border?

Any ideas fellas?

Hey howdy hey!

Several months back I was blessed to see "Relentless Pursuit", a book about the DSS, at my local library. I recommend this resource to any and all who are interested in the origin or Bin Laden, and the "real" hunt for terrorists.

According to what I read about the DSS activities, searching for a "target" in conjunction with other U.S. or Pakistani forces does not seem odd. I would guess that they were very close to something/someone "big"...

Jesus blessings!

Just a random thought, but they could be DynCorp employees, ex-soldiers hired by a civilian company for their expertise, and operating under contract to the State Department. They would probably be training the Afghani army.
