Okay, I've got a few questions about the 325th lately, both at regimental and battalion levels. I know the whole regiment served in Iraq and saw some pretty good fighting at Samawah during OIF, and is currently serving with the rest of the units over there.
Was the whole regiment in Afghanistan with the rest of the 82nd?
What Operations did the 325th particpate in during Afghanistan, and where about were these operations.
Does anyone know when the left for Camp Champion, Kuwait, and if they did so as a full regiment or battalions?
Thanks for the info.

If your a future paratrooper.. keep in mind... OPSEC. Posting the deployment status and movements of the 325th PIR or any unit is a generally bad idea. When rolled up for deployment soldiers aren't even allowed to tell our families where we are going. Once we get there it is ok to write back but not really to be specific.
As far as the past ops. Well, I wouldn't mind hearing about that either. Just as long as we don't post anything sensative. Bragg must be a ghost town these days.

No, the whole regiment was not in Afghanistan. I think they had one Batt. there. As far as in Iraq, I know for a fact that 3/325 AIR is there...battle of As Samawa in April. Also 1/325 AIR and 2/325 AIR is there. Also, 505th PIR. (They always have to have a Division readiness brigade at Ft. Bragg, I think it's the 504th) Right now, they are doing alot of patrolling and searches, not really specifically named missions. It's mopping up. I'll keep you posted

Approximately three hundred paratroopers from the 325th Airborne Infantry Regiment, 82nd Airborne Division (Task Force Falcon) deployed to Kuwait February 13, in support of U.S. military build-up in the Persian Gulf.

The soldiers were the first of around 4,000 troops who will deploy as part of the 2nd Brigade Combat Team.

According to Lt. Col. David Haight, Commander Officer of the 2nd Battalion, 325th A.I.R., the task force will provide a light infantry unit that can specifically fight in desert and urban settings.
“The desert training at Fort Irwin, Calif. and the urban warfare training we’ve received here at Fort Bragg were very successful,” said Haight. “Those preparations will be very valuable to us during our deployment.”

Though the length of deployment is unknown, the soldiers of Task Force Falcon are ready to complete any mission and take on any responsibility they may encounter, said Maj. Rich Patterson, 82nd Airborne Division Public Affairs Officer.

“This is why we joined the Army and why I came to Division,” said Pfc. Jason Cissna, petroleum specialist, 407th Forward Support Battalion. “We’re going to do great things and hopefully make everyone proud.”

“The soldiers being deployed have been to many family readiness group meetings,” said Haight. “We try to make sure the families are self sufficient so the soldiers have less worries.”

As the paratroopers waited to board their flight, Brig. Gen. Abraham J. Turner, the Assistant Division Commander of Operations, bid them farewell and good luck.

“Now it’s your turn to join the fight,” Turner said. “We will not waver and we will not falter until we eradicate all terrorism.”

Deployment: 82nd to Iraq

FORT BRAGG, N.C.- The 505th Parachute Infantry Regiment, 82nd Airborne Division, and elements from the division Headquarters and Headquarters Company will deploy to Iraq for six months in September, said the 82nd commander, Maj. Gen. Charles H. Swannack Jr., during a press conference at Stryker Golf Course Thursday.

The 82nd will be replacing the 3rd Infantry Division, from Fort Stewart, G.a. The 3rd ID has been in the Central Command Area of Operations since last fall.

Paratroopers from the 325th Airborne Infantry Division, 82nd Abn. Div., who deployed in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom in February, will remain in Iraq until about January or February 2004, according to Swannack.

After September’s deployment, the division is expected to have approximately 5,000 paratroopers in Iraq, he said.

“The 82nd Airborne Division has been and is probably as busy as we have been since World War Two, with fighting our nation’s war on two continents, (Afghanistan and Iraq,) and then reconstituting the Division Ready Brigade for Fort Bragg,” said Swannack.

Swannack also expressed his concern about paratroopers who have experienced multiple deployments in such a short time frame, and said this would be taken into consideration when choosing the paratroopers who will deploy.

For example, paratroopers from the 504th Parachute Infantry Division who are redeploying to the U.S. from Afghanistan will maintain the Division Readiness Brigade status at Fort Bragg.

Despite the current fast-pace operation of the 82nd, Swannack said the division is prepared to take on the mission.

“It is a very difficult time for our Army right now and for our nation,” Swannack said. “Everyone is committed to defend the Constitution of the United States as we swore to do. Our paratroopers are all ready to go.”

Been there, got the t-shirt.

If that's what you really want to do, then I suggest you get Ranger school added when you sign up. Believe me, it will help you in the long run.

I was in the 325 AIR for many years, so your thread peeked my interest.

Good luck, and if you need, or want to know something, send me a message.
