Nahh, they are an elite unit.
They are reserve soldiers that come mostly from PALSAR Golani and Sayeret Egoz and in addition to that they pass another 5 years of training to become Alpinists.
They are realy cool, they build caves in the snow with beds and a kitchen and they live in them. They were deployed last week when it started to snow in the mountain and it was -13C and winds of over 180km/h.
Already last week they got a call from a base on the mountain that couldn't open the door because of the snow, when they got to the base location they couldn't find it so they opened the GPS and saw that they are standing on top of it and it's totaly burried under the snow, so they digged it up.

BTW, the guy in the second picture joined the IDF after he was France's ski champion and US's vice champion (2nd place).
