This can vary considerably depending on what country you're from. From a US perspective, maybe Coors?

Busch...and all of it's vile concoctions. Busch Lite, Busch Ice, and so on. You could get the same effect if you pissed in a mug, and chilled it for awhile.

Oh my god, to die for.
Worst British beers are essentially any of the lagers that are brewed here (Carling, Fosters, Kronenbourg, Stella Artois, Miller....) or anything with "creamflow", "smoothpour" or the equivalent **** in the title so that includes John Smiths, Boddingtons, Worthingtons....
fave ale?
At the moment I'm partial to suff from The Orkney Brewery (http://www.orkneybrewery.co.uk/), particularly these two -

the original Stella is indeed brewed here in Belgium (in Leuven)
The Stella that's sold in Belgium (And presumably the rest of the Continent) is brewed in Belgium, the Stella that's sold in the UK is brewed in Wales.
THere's actually a pretty big con job going on because a lot of beers hype their roots, ie Fosters being Australian, Kronenbourg being French, so customers think they're paying extra for something "exotic" it's not until you read the small print you find out it's brewed here.
Off the top of my head -
Bud - Brewed in London
Stella - Wales
Fosters - Reading
Kronenbourg - Reading
Carlsberg (And Carlsberg Export) - Northampton
It's actually only in the last couple of years here that Guinness and Heineken have stopped being brewed locally, they're now actually importing them from the original countries.

Aye, thats why Heineken went up about 3% in strength, they stopped making it here and imported it. Still tastes like **** though
I love beer.
But once I ordered a pint of "The Cream of Manchester" and it tasted something between stomach acid and rotten apples. (I've never had rotten apples but would imagine they'd taste like that)
Could have been the bartender's fault.

From the sound of it it could be down to several things -
1) The beer was off due to being too old or the cellar not being chilled adequately.
2) The particular pump the barman used hadn't been used for a few days so the beer went off in the lines.
3) The glass you were drinking from could have been dirty (You'd be amazed at how much difference that can actualy make).
Anyway you look at it Boddingtons isn't actually a very good beer anyway, pick something else next time. :D

You're right, it must have been a combination of those three things.
And that was in one of those 'trendy' (read: ridiculously expensive) gastropubs (or whatever) in downtown Hell-sin-ki. Those bastards.
Reminds me of a rather funny episode. I was studying in the Netherlands
and went drinking with my two Korean friends. Suprisingly saw exported Lapin Kulta behind the bar and bought it to my friends. Due to the hilarious
prize I settled for a Heineken myself.
I was really happy to introduce my friends to Finnish beer (although it's nothing special, just like any lager). My friends sipped their beers really really slowly and after 40 minutes or so they had the guts to ask me if the beer is supposed to taste like this. I took a sip and almost spat it on the table. Turns out the best before date was two and a half years overdue.
Well, the bartender was quite ashamed and we had huge pints in compensation. But why oh why are the Asians so polite?

It is not beer, it is watered down lightly alcoholic soft drink. It's like yellow coke. You put lime in it for starters, beer should taste good buy itself. I drink Guiness warm or cold at the pub, because simply it is awesome both ways and you dont need to stick fruit in it.

You guys should have tried drinking ancient beer. Barely and whatnot would form a sludge in your cup. And it was warm. Beer has existed in one for or another for many thousands of years. The Sumerians drank it in Babylon (Iraq) and had up to 20 different recipes for different kinds of beer.
A few years back, someone tried to make beer based on an ancient Egyptian recipe and it sucked ass.

Miller Highlife (Lowlife)WAHHHHHH!?!??! That's my fave!Me too. Now on to my picks for worst of the worst:
Made with sparkling Pittsburgh water, Iron City beer quickly goes flat and has an exqisitely bad taste -- even when ice cold.
http://www.mylifeisbeer.com/beer/bottles/autopics/347.jpg
Likely George Washington's most miserable memory of Valley Forge was the beer. Gut-wrenchingly horrible.
http://www.vfbc.com/image/2400739.jpg
An old favorite, Schlitz has somehow combined a sickening sweetness with with no appreciable body whatsoever. If it warms even slightly projectile vomiting quickly ensues.
http://www.whatrain.com/beer/images/bod108.jpg
The Malt Liquors are nearly universally bad. There is no pretense of even trying for good flavor -- much is sacrificed to attain the higher alcohol content and low price. By far the worst that I've ever tasted is Olde English 800. If you decide to 'try' it out of curiousity, make sure that no one is standing next to you so that you can have a place to spit, because as soon as it hits your tongue, your body will quickly expel it -- unless you are a hard-core alcoholic [which is the target consumer for this product].
http://www.40ozmaltliquor.com/oe8003.jpg
EDIT: some dishonorable mention must be made of Milwaukee's Best [which is popularly called 'The Beast']. It really doesn't taste bad -- it just doesn't taste like anything. And there is a LIGHT version, too! But I don't want to discourage the makers. It only costs 1/3 as much as the middle-of-the-road beers, so sometimes it will get you through.

Click 'Webisodes' and select the one called 'Out of thin Ale.' Sort of derivative of The Gods Must be Crazy. Absolutely vicious toward American beer.

True. You guys do. But in the wider perspective, the beer in the states tends to sway towards toilet water.
When i was living in the states, everybody bought Rolling Rock because they were cheap bastards. Talk about a watery beer, you break the seal after the first sip.

These cheap watery beers sell very well in the US. As you've pointed out we're capable of making good beer, but the average American doesn't seem to be as demanding.
It's almost as if Americans have a completely different mindset as to what the purpose of beer is. Most of us apparently think that the point is to 'quench the thirst,' so it must be watery so you can drink large quantities without being bothered with taste.
Why do that when you could say, DRINK WATER?!
Beer is something to enjoy, not slam. :cantbeli:

It probably is when the main competition is Bud Light and Coors Light and other pisswater, but a good general rule is to avoid light beers entirely.

I like my beer to have a heavy malt taste, so I always look forward to when the bock season comes. This one sounds intriguing:One can not help but appreciate Samuel Adams® Double Bock's huge malt character. We use an enormous amount of malt, half a pound per bottle, to brew this intensely rich lager. Its deep brown-ruby color is all made in the kettle - no black malt is used, resulting in a rich sweetness that is free of the rough taste of burnt malt. All that remains is the velvet smooth flavor and mouthfeel of the two row malt. Samuel Adams® Double Bock's intense malt character is balanced with a subtle piney, citrus hop note from the German Noble hops.
Due to legal restrictions, Samuel Adams® Double Bock can not be sold in the states of Alabama, Arizona, Georgia, Iowa, Louisiana, Missouri, North Carolina, Ohio, South Carolina, Tennessee, and West Virginia.

Worst I've ever tasted was a vile concoction called Batemans, from Lincolnshire.
Best ever must be draught Wadworths 6X.
Met up with an American guy I know from another website in York this week - he says US beer is piss-poor too.
Likes our Real Ales though :)

Due to legal restrictions, Samuel Adams® Double Bock can not be sold in the states of Alabama, Arizona, Georgia, Iowa, Louisiana, Missouri, North Carolina, Ohio, South Carolina, Tennessee, and West Virginia. Why is that? There is a limit in alcohol content, otherwise it is not classified as beer and is subject to wine/liquor restrictions. This also may be why our beer is so ****ty.
Remember that we had alcohol Prohibition in this country and it was left up to the States and localities to regulate spirits afterward. Some states remained 'dry' for several years afterward.
In many states, stores must buy their alcohol from the State. And in some states, people can only buy from state-run stores.
That being said, further reviews of this Double Bock (http://www.mylifeisbeer.com/beer/bottles/bottledetail/62/) are souding intriguing. They will be draining the kegs in a couple of months and the bock beers will come out -- just in time for Spring Break.
I haven't touched a beer in months. Don't believe in 'settling' for whatever, so French/Italian/German wines are getting me through for now -- and Tennesee Sour Mash Whiskey [good single malt Scotch is a bit pricey for now].

Interesting info, thanks! But there must be some sort of inter-state 'smuggling' right? Unless people dont care so much about high-alcohol beer.
Suppose that you buy a double bock in Illinois and drink it in W.Virginia. What would happen if you got arrested? Is consumption also prohibited?
The reason i am asking is that i was surprised by these limitations given your extremely free market approach. But as you said the whole thing looks like a left-over from the prohibition period.

The interstate prohibition affects the distributors. Anyone who quietly goes across the state lines can get some, but that's a lot of trouble for some beer. The police aren't going to be interested unless you start buying truckloads and selling it.
I respect the brewers of Sam Adams because they are trying to resurrect a pre-Prohibition tradition of producing decent American beer by doing the research on the classic techniques. They also are going out of their way to obtain good ingredients. Outside of the microbrews, these may be the best brews that America has to offer.

No shots but with orange juice. So you can drink it like beer. Normally i stay with the beer, but yesterday was insane. Ya'll? We were just two.

Kaluha(coffy liquor), milk and vodka. Yummy. But normally i drink beer, because the pace is slower. This **** happens only when i drink mixed drinks. I got a text message of a girl who told me yesterday was fun and they're at the riverfront tonight. I can't even remember that i met her yesterday. No vodka for me the next weeks. ;)

Doesnt deserve the name beer.
Ok, worst type of beer ; f*** lagers!
Ale is for real men
first off the worst beer has to be Old Style or High Life.
Ale's are more like cat piss than Lagers. They are a lighter beer with less taste.
Also if you have a heineken in the Netherlands it tastes a whole lot better and a lot stronger. I was expecting it to taste better but not be stronger.
If your looking for a good all American beer sold in all stores Samuel Adams is the way to go.
My favorite though has to be a t-bone with garlic potatoes and a nice Blue Moon(Belgian White) with a slice of orange. woot

Budweiser tastes like water with piss in it.
All American beers are like that. Americans like their beer to be watery so they drink them like alcohol water with the golden color of piss. I don't know why that's the way it is, other than they are less expensive compared to European ones.

When you refer to Budweiser you generally speak of the american piss one?
Cause original Czech Budweiser is one of the best beers in existence. I favour it along with Kronenbourg 1664 and Stella Artois.

Polish beers are decent, but generally stronger in % cause its our biased national preference. Czech beers are better.

Molson Canadian and Victoria Bitter.
I mean American beer are bad cuz they're "tasteless", but at least you can treat them like sparkling water. Molson Canadian and VB on the other hand have that strange smelly odor around it.
