Frankly, I trust none of them to "lead" the world.

Ah ok. In mine own humble opinion the world doesnt need leading. Some agreement and co-operation would be helpful though.

Why the world should be lead?
It would be much better if everybody cares of his own business and not of the business of the others.

The post Kofi Annan United Nations or some other supra-national organization.
I am just not very comfortable with the word 'lead'...i think the era of 'empires' should seize one day. The world can work nicely without 'leaders' or 'top-dogs'. Of course that may well be wishfull thinking.
If i had to choose though between candidate countries i would reject China first. China as the leading country sounds a bit scary p-) , for more or less obvious reasons.
hmmm...i would choose Jamaica woot

Judging by the pro-American majority in this forum I think the result will be pretty clear.
The only person who could be trusted to "rule the world" would be yourself.
Failing that I would most trust any Scandinavian country. They seem pretty civilised. (Apart from Sven Goran Eriksson who's a wanker.)
Oh, I just saw "The Miracle" so my answer must be USA, USA, USA!

I trust Jan Mayen the most to lead the world.
But really, it should be me who leads the world... Emperor Bloddyaxe imperator of Europe, America, Asia, Africa and Antarctica, protector of the sky and lord of the solar system.
That would rock times infinate! :)
Its clear to see from the result of the poll that citizens of a certain nation think the world needs leading and also think they should lead the world.
Sounds like a whole load of "Monologue" again :cantbeli:

Same. Why the f### does the world need leading. People know better whats good for themselves. Nobody needs some foreigners manipulating things. People dont like it either if the goverment cares too much. How is it different here.

I voted U.S. probably just my own bias as an American. The U.K. wouldn't be a bad either in my humble opinion
This thread seem sort of pointless, because when do you really think the entire world would allow themselves to be led by a single nation. It is a nice idea, but wouldn't work. Mostly I picked U.S. because I belive the government and people supporting government would have to be, of the choices, the most similar to the U.S. government for it to work.
But it doesnt really matter because China is going to take over as the leading world superpower soon enough. Clinton screwed us over with the trade agreement with China.

I voted for the US too. The UN is more of a moderator than a leader and should remain so.
If the world is going to have a most powerful country, whose lead the others follow, then America is still the best candidate by far. Putting France on the poll was a cheap shot at its popularity: France will never be a serious contender and nor does it see itself as such, despite what you hear on Fox. Russia and China are totalitarian.
Nope, America is still the best choice for teh leadership role, which is why I am so vocal about Bush effing it up!

And let's have the Italian's and Japanese lead the food world.
And the Swedes, the decent cheap furniture world. And the American's can rule the deluxe home appliance world. And the Canadian's can rule the flag's on backpacks world ... ;)

Why the ****ing hell would I want a minority to lead the world? The world should be lead and run by everyone and not just the self appointed few.

Well, the arrow pointing at you immediately followed by the accusation would indicate so.
I voted for the UN because I know that for anything of any signficance will be vetoed by someone and nothing will be done (which is the way it should be... no one should lead the world by force... not OK for the US or Germany or the former Soviet Block or the Chinese or anyone.)

I guess it just depends on your definition of "leading."
I don't think one county should be in charge of "leading" the entire world. Sounds more like imperialism to me.
This is probably one of the reasons for a growing global anti-american sentiment. Many Americans think that the U.S. is the world's #1 superpower (which is probably true) and that it must assert it's power globally on everyone.
I'll tell you one thing though, if U.S. tries to lead the world like it's "leading" Iraq right now, some mean fecal matter is going to hit the cooling unit.
IMO, stuff like this should obviously be done through multinational cooperation and not have a single country be in charge of everything. That's why we have the U.N. Yea, I know it has problems and lots of room to improve.
