Wasn't aware of the whole MRAV concept being scrapped, just delayed.
But yes, the FV43 series are getting yet another 'mid' life upgrade.

the last inforation i saw was it was being binned at the loss of about 30 million in development costs. reasons why the designers exceeded the specification and not only not able to fit in a herc but also not able to fit in a c17 either. So looks like we're stuck with 43's for a long time but also the saxon will be around for a while as well.

I thought the concept of MRAV was still here. Did some checking this afternoon. Although the UK has withdrawn from the MRAV project, it is still running for Germany and the Netherlands.
Alvis Vickers in the UK have won the contract for the the Future Command and Liaison Vehicle (FCLV), a new airportable protected scouting vehicle which will play a key role in support of FRES (the Future Rapid Effect System). This will replace the CVR(T) family of vehicles. Replacements for Saxon and the FV43's will be announced in the autumn (or so the MoD claims ;) ).
The FRES concept seems from what I can find about it to be similar to Stryker. I know that the recce vehicle version of the FCLV will draw heavily on the Canadian Coyote.

The United Kingdom has, therefore, decided to withdraw from the Multi Role Armoured Vehicle programme, a collaborative project with Germany and the Netherlands

My opinion, get rid of Saxon ASAP, buy Canadian.
They've got a new, up-to-date vehicle that would be cheaper than engineering our own from scratch (AGAIN)
<EDIT> Was typing this at the same time as Royal

would agree with buying coyote/bison though sisu ambulance is ment to be excellent. we may hear something about it in the much talked about defence white paper. though with the current budget defficite the treasury will want more cuts and new kit to be paid for out of existing budgets.
