These are some photos people took at the SHOT show. As nice as it is, I would not be surprised if people opt to buy the new civilian SCAR H (when it comes out) instead.

5-6 lb triger-pull. Seems a bit excessive. How are you supposed to get off accurate shots with having to put so much force on the trigger? Sounds a bit like the Model 700 CDL, it has a 7 lb trigger pull. My grandpa had to have a gunsmith reduce the force you had to put on the trigger. I think he got his down to 3 lbs.

5-6lbs trigger pull is perfectly fine for combat situations, we're not talking about shooting competitions here.

Yes, it's lighter.
That is one sick rifle!
I have an article on it in one of my weapons mags!

Why does everything have to have SOCOM or SPECOPs in the name these days? Sure that's a nice weapon but for Christ's sake what is so SOCOM about it? It definitely isn't a choice for CQ stuff and it doesn't really fit the bill for conventional stuff either. It appears to fall in the "Scout" class of rifles.
I've been around the SPECOPS world for quite a long time; the arms room is full goodies, but just recently it seems that everything that hits the market has to have "The Name".
Just a rant.

I think it usually has to do with carbine, collapsable stock, short barrel, and rail sights stuff...

Troy is playing the name game too.

Actually, I have sen very few guns released with this nomenclature.
I bet there were only a a few at the SHOT show too.
You hang out in a military forum with a bunch of gear dorks (no offense attended to us dorks) so you are going to to see SOCOM tossed around a lot...real or fantastic.
This is not a gun forum though...as much as Geezah and I try...so the guns you see listed or moded out frequently get named SOCOM or SOPs MOD. or SPEC MOD.

This is the "highest speed" rifle that certain people (Californians) can buy, since unlike the SCAR, it lacks that evil evil pistol grip. So it will remain a weapon of choice for Kommiefornian bastards (like myself, sadly).
The M1A SOCOM sells like f*cking crazy. We've sold hundreds. Most of the people who bought them (and don't seem to have their heads in their rears) use them for coyotes.
Didn't HK name their Mk.23 the SOCOM? Plus, Trijicon markets their ACOG 4x32 NSN as the "Special Forces" model. I guess "3rd ID" model didn't sound sexy enough.
As was said before, it's all marketting!
