Trooper Chris Finney of the Blues & Royals has been awarded the George Cross for his bravery in returing to his and another burning CVR(T) to rescue wounded crew. Sadly LCoH Matty Hull was killed in the incident when USAF A10's straffed the British vehicles.
Col (late Lt Col) Tim Collins has been awarded the OBE for his role as CO 1RIR BG in Op Telic I. He has been cleared of all charges, following false allegations of brutality by a US officer.
Read about this in todays papers, much respect to these guys and others who were honoured recently. Unfortunate that it had to be under those circumstances, these friendly fire incidents are getting ridiculous, but what happens happens.

I thought Col Tim Collins to be more worthy than an OBE
On a good point the CO of the 1st Bn Black Watch(Scottish Regiment) was awarded the DSO
I wonder if the investigations into Collins lessened his chances of recieving an actual Military award, like the DSO awarded to the 1BW's CO?

I BW were involved in some pretty fierce fighting arround Basra, I think the DSO reflects this, this not to say that I RIR didn't do a good job, just that they had a slightly easier time of it.
The closed list reflects the extent of SF Ops, with 6 MC's and various other MD's and decorations (including a number of DFC's for SF aircrew). There are also a slew of US decorations for British personell including a couple of silver and rather more bronze stars.
