as i am stretching before my daily run, i'm wondering if soldiers have a stretch routine before heading out to battle in order to avoid muscle and tendon and ligament strains.

Your adrenaline, fear, excitement are too great to even worry about straining one of your muscles. People usually do something more relax(praying, reading a magazine, Jack Mehoff, looking at love ones picture, PMCS weapon and equipments, etc.) before they walk into the valley of death.

No but during a mission when the body armor is cranking down on your back I've seen guys stretch.

Yeah right, they made an excuse to see how far their mouth can reach their ****
Actually, stretching is also a method of relaxing for a lot of people.
