Anyone know where one could buy an emersion heater?
need one for a big cook-out coming up...

As for the heater...have you tried a place like Home Depot?

No, I didn't think they could pass the safety stuff they would require. The one I'm talking about was the steel doughnut with the gasoline can that dripped into it and burned around the ring. It had a 3 piece stove pipe to cause the updraft and would boil a barrel of water in about 15 minutes.

Tom, these are still in service use by the Canadian Forces. I would suggest one of the bigger Canadian Army Surplus Dealers. You could try Daves Army Surplus for a start, Martin may be able to point you in the right direction ( www.davesarmysurplus.com ) (604)524-5867 or maybe even E-Bay.

That's probably one of the most dangerous pieces of gear the military ever produced. Many an eyebrow was lost to that device.
