Greeting Devildogs.
Since the Corps has adopted the OTV in Coyote Tan as standard for all future use, has there been any word on what they will do for future LBV procurements?
Are you going to stick with a MOLLE II vest type system in Coyote Tan or go with pouches directly attached to the OTV as standard practice.
I can see using the WC version until it is due to be replaced, but wonder what the replacements will be.

I'm not a Marine, but from what I can tell, most Marines attach their pouches directly to their OTV, though in some cases I've seen them wearing the MOLLE II FLC over their OTV. I think the main reason is really that the MOLLE equipment is pretty ****ty quality, but I don't have any personal experience with it.

The reason for both is.

Attaching and detaching pouches from the OTV takes alot of time. Lets say you get back to camp, and you dont want to haul all that ammo and gear around, but you still like to have the vest on... bingo.

There are places you dont need the OTV, like during Tsunami relief.

OTV reduces mobility and thus stealth. So LBV will always be there.

Did you know that you marine in your avatar was convicted for substance abuse? At least that's the myth. He was on the original USMC poster. Crazy world eh?
