Anyone played this yet? I just bought it today $50 played it for 6 straight hours after that I am left speechless; Its simply the best game I've played in my entire life!!! Words cannot describe how great this game is; The amount of germans you have to kill, the realism in the war, how long the bloody war is and how you hope it'll end! Crazy stuff----

Yes I've noticed that :)

those pics basically ARE the first scene of enemy at the gates :)

i've played it, and there's a few points i'd like to note
-great gameplay
-very immersive
-however not totally realistic, and some rather no-sense-making-missions
-and WAAAY too short....less than a day of playing and i was done :(

less than a day??? wow. i also heard that max payne 2 can be done in 8 hours.

i hope DX: invisible war is pretty long. the first one took 27 hours.

Just saw another screenshot on www.computerandvideogames.com with the Brits that has to be Pegasus Bridge, where the glider borne troops captured the first bridge of D day. I read a book about it and the screenshot is identical.
Also, the game is not out here in the UK, which vexs me, but am looking forward to it, especially as Half Life 2 is delayed.

BTW, i'd love to see a game playing as the Germans against the rest of the world, or more importantly, pushing the Soviets back, taking Stalingrad etc. I'd buy that...

Nice little pissing contest ladies.

AdamAnt, find me a game where I can shoot lots of badguys without having to be a cartographer and make decisions for 12 squad members and ****. Is this such a game? Think Duke Nukem.

I prefer C&C Generals and C&C Generals :Zero Hour.

Thats the way to wage war on the computer.

Ichhabe, ever played any of the Close Combat games? They don't have resource collecting/building and all that like C&C. Rather, you command a company of soldiers from WW2 (side/location depends on each Close Combat game) who are formed into specific squads and such...very cool if you're looking for an RTS.

I have Close Combat 3: The Russian Front. It's a spectacular game, and without question the most realistic RTS I've ever played. Strategies from games like C&C and Starcraft/Warcraft are 100% useless, though, so it takes a bit of time to adapt.

yup...close combat is as real as it gets in strategy games....played all 5 games of em :)

Joe, COD might be a good game for u :) no real commanding going on...just kicking german ass (or get ur own whooped)..sometimes u'r in control of a squad urself, but all it basically means in this game is that some guys are following u around, nothing really big...

Yeah... Tried them. Followed it up to CC III. But there is "something" about the game that I do not like.

My favourite turnbased strategy game would be Battleground Ardennes. Came out in 1995 I think. It is quite like the board game Adv. Squad Leader, if that is familiar to you.

How is the online multi player in CoD? Is it anything like MOHAA online multi player?

Ratamacue
11-02-2003, 02:28 PM
From what I hear, the COD multiplayer is like MOHAA or Day of Defeat. No experience with it myself though.

eehb..........

I played this game some ages ago, and I founds it to be rather interesting.
There is though one seriously mind slaughtering thing in it. The final communist mission has you slaughtering nazis in the Reichtag building, the one that was burned to pieces before WWII and not restored until after the german reunification, or was it after WWII? At the very least in the game the building interiour doesn't look the slightest like 'tas been burned down, just some slight damage and the parlament thingall is in fairly good condition. I'd have though this'd been rather sooty and burned to pieces already before the communist conquest, but it doesn't look like that in the game. At the very least though it rocked to slice fiends with the PPSh...

**** how they can't actually put our involvement into the war for the full campaign and have to resort to an SAS missions after the first decent British missions. Pegasus Bridge was great then yawn SAS missions, and then on UO the RAF mission was excellent then again 2 more SF missions.

Good World War Two games

Combat Mission 2: Barbarossa to Berlin
Combat Misson 3: Afriks Korps
Same series and if you are a true wargamer into strategy this is seriously the game you have been looking for. Forget Close Combat this is as realistic as it gets. Now the graphic is a bit outdated but forget it, it blows!
http://www.battlefront.com

IL-2 series.
Probably the best flight simulator you'll ever find. Astonishing graphics with good realism over the amazing battles that took place in russia.

Battlefield 1942
Fun actionpased multiplayer game.

Good World War Two games to look out for.

Day of Defeat: Source
The port for DoD over to the new Half-Life 2 Engine.
Anyone who've played Half-Life 2 know what to expect.

Hearts of Iron 2.
World War 2 on a global scale great strategy game from Paradox Entertainment.

Wartime Command.
The new close combat game from the studio that made IL-2 series.
