M134 is the US military designation... its on uh 60s, ah6s, and mh53s.
Really cool seeing the tracer only shots, the few that there were, you can really get a feel of how dense the bullets are, being just a few inches apart during flight.

beautiful weapon, great video too!

by the way... does anyone know the name of the second song?

This is a very well put together compilation of many different video clips of training videos of the Apache Gattling Gun. Unbelievable the amount of power this gun has.

Well, it looks like this is a 7,62 X 51 mm version, so each bullet will cost approx between the $ 0,15 to $ 0,25 and the tracers will be more expensive. Something I also noticed in the army, is that every bullet bounces away after hitting the surface. Very cool footage!

If you need more penetrating power I would suggest the GAU-19/A.

Regarding GAU-19/A

What kind of units are these in? Infantery? Anyone have pics of these in use with units in Iraq or Afganistan?

Cheers! :)

I've only seen the GAU-19/A in promotional pictures and videos, never in active duty service.

During the Clinton administration a few Blackhawks sold to Columbia were equipped with GAU-19/As. The .50 caliber rounds were deemed necessary to shoot through the jungle canopy. There were some problems with the guns, mainly due to the ammunition circa 1952 that the U. S. State Department gave to the Columbian National Police. And so for a while the CNP had to ration the more recent .50 cal ammo that it received from the U. S. Coast Guard.

Here's a link to a PDF document about mounting GAU-19s on MD Explorer helicopters:

I believe the Mexican navy ordered ten MD Combat Explorers armed with GAU-19/As for use in drug interdiction.

And here are links to two PDFs showing the GAU-19/A on the V-22 Osprey: http://www.dtic.mil/ndia/2001gun/Depasqual.pdf

Cool Video.

But guys, guys, guys. Please let us not forget the almighty AN/GAU-8 30mm Cannon which is currently fitted on the 'Tank-Busting' A-10 Warthogs.

Heres an even cooler vid. http://www.big-boys.com/articles/30mm.html

Similar to the earlier M61 20mm Vulcan design, the Avenger (The AN/GAU-8 30mm Cannon) uses seven barrels to achieve a rate of fire of 3,900 rounds per minute. The Avenger fires a mix of 30mm electrically primed PGU-13/B High Explosive Incendiary (HEI) rounds and PGU-14/B Armor Piercing Incendiary (API) rounds. At 1,200 meters (4,000 feet) a 2 second burst from the AN/GAU-8 will deliver 100 rounds containing 65 pounds of DU and place 80 percent of these projectiles within 20 feet of the target.

Im not too sure, but in the second aspect of this video (where the camera shot is taken from a circular scope) if u look at the bottom of the video, you can see a stream of dull white light when the cannon is being fired. I suspect that thats the stream of bullets, but hey, im no expert.

Sorry if this has already been posted.

PS: Daaamn. Imagine 100 rounds of DU shells falling all around you faster than you can say "Allah-Ahkbar".
