The soldier on the far left is wearing coyote brown boots instead of the usual tan. Wasn't the Army planning to use some kind of brown boot with the ACU? I know they were testing the same Bellevilles the Marines have some time ago (without the EGA, of course) ...

The ACU is currently being issued to most Officers at this point. Not sure when it will be issued to Enlisted soldiers but Its probley wont be too long until you see half the soldiers in Iraq wearing them ;) . I definitely agree with you about the ACU's being fugly hah.
@Icarus (not Initiative) :
If your looking for REAL MARPAT, and you live outside the country the only place you will be able to buy it from is EBAY. That or if you have a friend in the states who is a Marine who can hook you up good for you. No online stores or surplus stores have or atleast can sell you real MARPAT without having to deal with paper work saying your a U.S. Marine. All in all if you are a civi and not a US Marine from my understanding the only 2 ways of actually getting a real pair of MARPAT is buying it on ebay or buying it from a Marine you know.

There's a Rhode Island National Guard brigade deploying to Iraq in May that has been issued the ACU. There's pictures somewhere in the ACU thread in this section of the forums.

My Marine friend got me my desert MARPAT! :-D
It's really nice and surprisingly comfortable - though I've always found US BDU's to be of superior quality to the British gear (in my view, in any case...)
I don't think that the Army stuff looks too terrible. I think that the camo pattern is rather pleasing to the eye... probably not the desired intent, but ah well p-)

Oh God not this you can't have MARPAT unless you've earned it crap again..... :bash:
It is a piece of cloth and if someone has enough money to buy it and someone wants to sell it then he HAS earned it. This whole thing about about MARPAT is no different than a person who wears a shirt with his favourite sports team's logo on it, eventhough he didn't actually play for them. Or a university logo shirt that he didn't graduate from.

This may repeat some posts but eBay is the best source for the real deal, which you'll know a couple of ways:
--It has the EGA in the pattern
--It has a label saying its made exclusively for the USMC (Propper is one such manufacturer).
All other stuff musst be varied to some degree in terms of both the pattern andthe design of the garment becuase the USMC actually has a trademark on it (kinda cool if you think about it).
I too have started collecting the stuff and even found some of the new digital Marpat goretex items (eBay of course andpaid out the nose).

Yes well , I have to agree with you two at least partly.
The MARPAT BDU is just a piece of cloth and should be available to one and all. However , to me the trouble begins when you start sewing all sorts of insignias and patches into your BDU's. When you've suddenly earned jump-wings and the SEAL trident for something you haven't done , and in most cases never will do , pretty much makes me wonder too.
As a matter a fact , I'd have alot of trouble trying to play airsoft with that eagle , globe and anchor - logo on my breast pocket or hat. If the BDU would even have the "MARINES" - tag on it , I'd probably cut it away just to be safe.
In my opinion "you can have MARPAT" , but if you're planning to go playing airsoft wearing it , better take off all the sewn insignias. That's one of the reasons why I'm trying to find a US MARPAT - boonie hat without the EGA - logo (if such items exist). And to tell you the truth , I've been pretty happy with this cheap copy-MARPAT stuff too..

I tend to agree. I have a woodland marpat cover (field hat) and it's legit genuine issue, but it does not have the EGA (probably for issue to the USN) embroidered on it.
Now, not to open a can of worms, but for those of us we "collect" only legit stuff, what do you do about the fact that the EGA is right in the pattern itself if it'sthe real deal?

It's probably not genuine, because even Corpsmen and other Naval personnel attached to Marine units wear their cammies with an EGA. For example:

I thought so too at first but it has the EGA in the camo and the right label.
I even checked it out at Defense Dept. Defense Logistics Procurment site:
http://ct.dscp.dla.mil/ascot/frontpage/
BTW: Thisis a great site just for checking what's entering and what's leaving the supply line for Uniforms & Equip. for all U.S. Mil forces (USA, USN, USAF, USMC, Coast Guard).

I got both Marpat woodland (x3) and desert (x1) BDU's, all the hats and helmet covers, usmc boots ..everything with the EAG logo on it...so what?
I even got it with tags and ranks on it...hell...I even got an original marpat camelbak  from the USMC trials.
In Europe you can wear it on an airsoftfield...no one will make fuss about it because everybody knows it's just not a real marine.
...in the states on the oter hand. ....A bit logic I guess.
...and ...euuuh....even 150$ for a new marpat BDU is a lot of money.
I bought all mine for not more than 100$ a piece from Ebay....shipping included.
The camelbak was the most expensive ....150$...but hey...how much camelbak exist in marpat anyway?

haha...hear some civilians talkin....
A civilian in a USMC BDU still stays a civilian.
Not like I'm running around sayin I'm a marine or even have been.
I'm in an airsoftteam that uses marpat BDU's.
We also got ranks in the group so we use real USMC.
We ONLY use it on the airsoftfield. I'f I hear that a Tmember is sayin to someone else he has anything to do with USMC or even that he earned the ranks I kick em out of the team...simple as that.
As for the civilians here on the forum who would like too give me a hard time but never have been in the USMC themselfs...STFU :bash: .
You talk in the name of the USMC on a public forum but never been with your fat*ss in the core yourself .... For me that's worse than somebody who likes too dress like one on an airsoftfield.
If a real marine dislikes it and says he wants to kick my @ss...I understand the critics...but some *****wannabe??
Btw....those ranks mean nothing in civilain life.
And if all the military personnel are proud of their ranks & patches...Why the hell they sell it on f*ckin EBay  ...I guess money has more value for them than some plastic, fabric or metal that represents some respect to some people.
Anyway....If you can't see the diffirence between some wannabe on the airsoftfield or a real Marine......your a *****ss.

Heh , well.. That's not my point. Are you seriously expecting me to automatically consider you a marine if you've got MARPAT on with the necessary ranks etc. ?
Hah , good god , No. I'm just saying that it look a bit ridicolous sometimes , but alright , it's your call.
We ONLY use it on the airsoftfield. I'f I hear that a Tmember is sayin to someone else he has anything to do with USMC or even that he earned the ranks I kick em out of the team...simple as that..
How noble of you , however I bet you haven't had too many cases of that going around , now have you ?
As for the civilians here on the forum who would like too give me a hard time but never have been in the USMC themselfs...STFU :bash: ...
Oh please , don't start that stuff with me. Let me ask you this , have you been in the United states marine corps yourself ? If you indeed have served there, then just please accept my most sincere apologies for mocking you , if not.. Then.. Umm , aren't we situated on the same line here pretty much ?
And let me say this again , I just happen to find it amusing when either 40-year olds with huge beards or 14-year-olds run around the woods wearing all sorts of real fancy ranks and insignias (and I'm not ranking you people to either category , don't worry).
You talk in the name of the USMC on a public forum but never been with your fat*ss in the core yourself .... For me that's worse than somebody who likes too dress like one on an airsoftfield.

No , wrong. I'm not talking on behalf of the USMC (I've said it before , that I just happen to find people wearing ranks like that slightly amusing in some cases). Further , what I find amusing is your way of speaking like you would've served yourself ? Have you served ? If so , then let me apologize again.
And please , don't call me a "wannabe" since I'm not in the process of imitating any special forces/marine/ etc. outfits (who's the one wearing OFFICIAL MARPAT with OFFICIAL rank patches on them , huh ?) . And , as a matter a fact , your team wearing official rank patches makes you look more wannabe than it does me.. I've never worn anything like that.
Btw....those ranks mean nothing in civilain life.
Correct. However , it makes me amused when people playing airsoft go around wearing them.
And if all the military personnel are proud of their ranks & patches...Why the hell they sell it on f*ckin EBay  ...I guess money has more value for them than some plastic, fabric or metal that represents some respect to some people..
Well , I'd sell my MARPAT fatigues too if I'd have an extra pair or two in the closet.
Anyway....If you can't see the diffirence between some wannabe on the airsoftfield or a real Marine......your a *****ss.
Yes , let this be a warning to all of the blind people who think otherwise..
